I am really frustrated. I was dreaming about the Toast capabilities. I've got it in a bundle with LaCie d2 DVD-RW Firewire for my MAC (Power Mac G4; 1.25 GHz; L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB Memory: 768 MB Bus Speed: 167 MHz I wanted to burn an enhanced audio CD (with an mpg file). Not a chance. This is what kind of communication I get: Interface error: 5. The connection is not stable. OK The disk failed to be written. OK The drive reported an error: Sense key = Illegal request Sense code = 0x2C Command Sequence error. OK Then, I can not remove the CD from the Lacie drive. I have to turn it off, and only then I can eject the CD. Can someone help me? Back to top #2 oluaces oluaces Newbie Members 2 posts Posted 01 March 2006 - 08:24 AM Hi guys.I am really frustrated. Now in either set, I get an Intertface Error Code -9356 (the connection is not stable) When I try to burn a CD. A couple times this came up was when I tried burning MP3 files I transferred from ITunes and into Toast and Then Extracted them to burn. This happens also when trying to burn my bounced files from http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=47938 ProTools. I guess I should mention that I'm using Pro Tools Free on a Beige G3 Minitower with a G4 upgrade OWC 550 (clocking @ 534) This error started before the upgrade. Is there a set of extensions I need to be awrae of that I'm not seeing especially since I'll be upgrading soon to 001? I replaced the CD-ROM on my beige G3-266 with an IBM-brand interface error CDRW (ID = CD-RW52XMAX), and it's been working fine for a year now, happily burning and reading both audio and data CDs, using Toast 5.0. Until today. Now, suddenly, I'm repeatedly getting a message: "Interface error -9356 The connection is not stable". This occurs after the cache is filled and burning starts for a few seconds, then error message and freeze. A coaster is created. I tried disabling the Iomega Zip extension that I found was still active interface error 3 (even though Zip was removed several years ago), but no difference - coasters continue. Nothing has changed on the machine - it's been stable for years, which is why I still use it :-) Any suggestions, or suggestions about where I might find help? Thanks, jg:: Reply With Quote 06-28-2004,11:23 PM #2 Badger Guest I began to get that message after a memory chip went bad. This was on an iMac 333 with an MCE CD-RW internal burner with Toast 5. Once the chip was replaced everything returned to normal. If a memory chip was bad, then I'd also expect to see other problems creeping in, such as, not being able to load multiple memory-hungry applications all at once. Any other way to check if my RAM is still healthy? jg:: Reply With Quote 06-29-2004,10:12 AM #4 Badger Guest For me, the problem burning CDs was the first sign of a problem. It was intermitent, about 1 of 3 burns, and did not show on either the mac memory check or with the Techtool hardware checks. Eventually
