Cisco Vpn Client Internal Error 2738
7 RC1 x64 (all updates), but I always get an "internal error 2738". I tried several compatibility settings (Vista, XP SP2, internal error 2738 windows 7 Vista SP1) with no luck. I found some hints to register VBScript.DLL ( regsvr32 VBScript.DLL in system32 with admin privileges) but this doesn't help. Any further suggestions? is the softwapre package you're trying to install? Tuesday, June 02, 2009 11:47 PM Reply | Quote Moderator 0 Sign in to vote It's a collection of software for business start-ups. The installer was made with InstallShield. Unfortunately I got no answer on my support request.Windows 7 x64 RC1 - Gigabyte EP-45-DS3 (Intel P45 chip set), 4GB RAM, ATI 4670 Thursday, June 04, 2009 4:42 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote I get the same error when trying to install cisco vpn client 5.0.5.0290. It installed ok on one machine, but continously fails with 'Internal error 2738' on another machine; both were upgraded from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 32-bit. The proposed solution (elsewhere) about registering vbscript.dll does not work for me. Found this http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2007/06/07/3151752.aspx and it pointed at a root cause. Following those instructions worked, copi

Using the Cisco VPN Client for Windows To begin using the Cisco Systems VPN Client: 1. After the computer reboots, it places a 'UA VPN' icon on your Desktop 2. Click this icon to start the program After launching the client, you will see this screen: Client Startup 1. Click the Connect button. 2. Enter your UAnetID and password. 3. It will connect and show the VPN icon https://support.uakron.edu/wiki/index.php/Cisco_VPN_Client in your taskbar near the clock. In order to disconnect: VPN Disconnect 1. Right click the VPN icon in the taskbar. 2. Select Disconnect. Configuring the VPN client These steps should not be necessary, as the client will be auto configured on install. If you need to configure the client for UAs network, you can read the instructions here. Troubleshooting VPN Client says it installed, but cannot be found on your computer This can occur with the following symptoms: 1. Package extracts and then immediately disappears (no installation occurs) 2. Your computer does not restart after the installation process 3. You cannot find the VPN client in the Start Menu or anywhere on your computer for that matter A common cause of this issue is an antivirus program that does not like the Cisco VPN installer. The easiest way to get around this is to temporarily disable your antivirus software, and then attempt to install the VPN client. Many antivirus programs have an option to disable it until the next restart. This would be ideal as the VPN client restarts your computer at the completion of the installation. When your computer reboots, your antivirus should be back on and the VPN client can be found on the desktop. Another cause of this can be the display resolution on the computer. The Cisco client cannot be installed unless the resolution is at least 800x600. Anything less than this will cause the program to crash
needed to know if he should get a copy for my mother's computer which currently runs Windows XP. She uses it http://chronicles.blog.ryanrampersad.com/2009/06/internal-error-2738-with-vpn-client-on-windows-7/ for work primarily and because of that, uses the Cisco VPN client. I have a number of computers running the Windows 7 RC so I decided it would be http://www.technipages.com/internal-error-2738-install-error-fix a good idea to test out the client before I told him if he should get one for her computer. I extracted the setup and then tried to run internal error the installer and that's where the problems started. An error came up when the installer progress bar was half way: Internal Error 2738 A lot of good that does, right? Well, a quick google search and a link later, we get a solution: Run a command prompt in administrator mode (Start/All Programs/Accessories/ right click on Command Prompt, internal error 2738 select Run As Administrator) type: cd %systemroot%\system32 type: regsvr32 vbscript.dll That website said this fix was for installing on Windows Vista. I ran through those instructions (I did this when installing some Adobe software for a friend) but it didn't help. When I ran the installer again, it still threw the same error. I repeated everything multiple times, restarted even but still, no dice. The second solution (and this too) that I found was the bullseye. The idea is that if you need to register the vbscript.dll, you need to unregister it first. It doesn't seem as easy as the registering method, but it really isn't hard if you copy and paste. If you have these scripting engines registered under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you need to make sure that you remove that registration and re-register them under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. You can use the following steps to unregister them from HKEY_CURRENT_USER: Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK To unregister the VBScript engine, run this command: reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFT

Hold the Windows Key and press "R" to bring up the Windows Run dialog box. Type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll", then press "Enter". You should get a popup that says the DLL file registered successfully.
