The failure means that the kernel was not able to communicate with the CPU APIC (wrong message). There isn't a unique solution to this; the cause may be: a buggy driver (network card driver is a good candidate, as for unused modules that kernel loads anyway); an old or defective BIOS; some kind of wrong setting in the BIOS; a broken motherboard or (uncommon) CPU. If you experience a lot of crashes, freezings, strange behaviour of software, you can try: boot with the "noapic" kernel parameter; upgrade BIOS; upgrade CentOS to 5.7 or 6.0; Otherwise, if eve

I found this error by pressing F10 and running the hardware diagnostic. Has anybody come across this problem before? I did find this thread(link https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/949450-cpu1-vcore-error-dell-server below) on the Dell forum, but all my stuff is updated in terms of firmware. Hope somebody can shed some light on this error message, before I go out buying another server. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/19493117 Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Dell Server 2950 Dell Server Dell PowerEdge T110 II   3 Replies Tabasco OP Ryan @ xByte May 13, 2015 at 7:48 UTC Brand Representative for xByte Technologies Technumber5, I haven't seen this error too often, but some advice i could offer would be that one of a few things. First of all i would definitely power the machine off and remove all power to the system. Hold in the power button for 30 seconds to drain the flea power and power back up. Clear your error log(ctrl e to access the bmc and the system event log is located at the bottom) and see if the error returns. If it returns, i have seen chip creep cause this, in which the server has been up for awhile. I would power down, and re-seat the CPU in it's socket. While doing so i would inspect the CPU for damage or debris, as well as the socket for bent pins etc. Re-install eve

I don't want to just swap out the CPU without first understanding what this error code means. Can anybody clue me in? If it fails/crashes during memtest, I would recommend swapping the CPU Go to Solution 4 Comments LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 Server Hardware 1 Components 1 Message Expert Comment by:lokna2008-11-13 As far as I can tell, this is a sensor error, deasserted means something like undetectable. It could be either cpu or mainboard failure, or both. I would guess mainboard, as a cpu error should be detected properly. 0 Message Author Comment by:snyderkv2008-11-13 After reboot it did say deasserted. How could I test the CPU? I really don't want to rebuild exchange that is running on this server but if I could test that it is the CPU then that would be an easy fix for I have spares.
