When I click on Live Update I get a "you are running prereleased or beta version" fault after the files down load but do not install. I think it stops at symantec security. Following a post on Norton Tech support, I uninstalled using Norton removal tool, internal error 2753 then reinstalled using my orig. CD. I got one completed live update, then it fails as above subsequently. Also, Ghost no longer sees my recent drive images (disassociated from index folder). I can find them if I "file, open". Don't have clue if I am going to be able to restore when I need to. If I explore the backups, everything seems to be there. No guarantee that it will run in the Recovery Environment. Any clues how to solve these issues? Want to Advertise Here? Solved Re-Installing NSW2006, should I kill ccApp.exe? Posted on 2005-11-12 Operating Systems 5 Verified Solutions 29 Comments 4,762 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Hello, I've had auto-protect trouble with my NAV 2006, and from browsing some topics here I decided to reinstall norton system works 06 to fix my problem ASAP. Here's what I've done so far: I uninstalled NSW and live update, rebooted, then deleted any refference to them that I could find, using windows search and also in the registry using regseeker, then rebooted again. I did this while avoiding to delete anything that had to do Norton Ghost, which is installed. Now I want to reboot a final time before i reinstall, while making sure no old NAV startups are running. Heres my urgent question: What about ccApp.exe? I know its part of NAV but why is it still there and should I kill it before I reboot & reinstall? And the same goes for ccSetMgr.exe ccEvtMgr.exe, are they still there because of Ghost or are they old NAV startups that I should also kill before I reinstall? It is responsible for the auto-protect and email checking facilities, both of which will not function correctly if this service is stopped. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. Note: ccapp.exe is also a process belonging to the media.fastclick adware which creates advertising popups on your computer and sends Internet usage information back to it's company's servers. This is a registered security risk and should be terminated immediatly. If you uninstalled Norton Antivirus
