I have 2 projects, a new installation and an upgrade. Both contain the same custom action .exe, which is installed with the product and set to run after setup complete success dialog and ignore the exit code. The custom action works great with the new installation, but during the upgrade as soon as I hit the 'Finish' button a windows installer error pops up and says "Internal Error 2753 - [progName].exe". I can manually go and run the .exe file and it works fine. For some reason it just doesnt get fired off correctly. I have checked out the msdn error table and found that the error is from file[2] not being marked for installation, which doesnt make a lot of sense to me since I am installing it. Any suggestions? (OS - Win2k, ISE 4.0 SP1) Thanks! 2753 How to Fix Internal Error 2753 By James Johnson eHow Contributor James Johnson Follow Pin Share Tweet Share Email Save Jupiterimages/Comstock/Getty Images The Microsoft Windows error "Internal Error 2753" is related to a Windows Installer failure. If this error is popping up as a prompt on your Windows operating system, you will not be able to install applications. Thankfully, there is an easy fix for this problem that you can perform using your system's DOS prompt. Click on the Windows Start button. In Windows XP, click on "Run," then type "cmd" and click the "Go" button. This will bring up the DOS command window. Vista and Windows 7 users click on Windows Start, then "All Programs" followed by "Accessories" and "Command Prompt." Type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and press the "Enter" key. You should now see the message "DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded." If this message appears, the required files for the installer have been successfully registered and you should be able to install your programs. Click on the installer file for your application and see if the error appears again. If the installation begins, the files are now properly registered. Repeat the process one more time if the installation still gives the "Error 2753" message. References Microsoft: Error Message When Loading New Software! Help!
