Trying to uninstall, I get the internal error 2753 Reg Utils error message. I used the Windows installer cleanup utility to get rid of it however in Program files > internal error 2753 Java, there is still a folder named Jre1.6.0_07 which I assume is update 7. Would this this be safe to remove? Also I'm sure there are scads of regestry entries associated with it But I'd rather nor fool with that. Thank you, Chuck Desktop: Dell I620. Leave manual deletion as an absolute last resort when nothing else will work. Nick. I already have jre6 update 20 installed. Should I reinstall update 07 and then try to uninstall it? Thank you, Chuck Desktop: Dell I620. is this to you? Average Rating 0 43588 views 04/21/2009 Software Deployment The following two errors occur after attempting an uninstall of JRE 1.6u13 when it was deployed by Group Policy. [blockquote]Product: Java(TM) 6 Update 13 -- Internal Error 2753. regutils.dll The removal of application Java(TM) 6 Update 13 from policy Software_JRE_1.6 failed. The error was : Fatal error during installation. [/blockquote] The first removal appears to work, and the installation is gone, Add/Remove Programs entry comes back immediately (albeit with the wrong icon etc.). If you reboot the machine (I would expect it to install itself again because of Group Policy, the machine hangs at logon. If you try to uninstall it again via Add/Remove Programs, the above two errors appear. I suspect these errors are what's causing the hang when logging in. All the files (including regutils.dll) on the hard disk are gone and there is no mention of 'regutils' in the registry. What there *is* though, is the information about Group Policy software (see below). Deleting this key will fix the problem... the Add/Remove entry goes away, and a further reboot will install the JRE again successfully.
