Join Now I have a user with a Windows 7 pc. When it was deployed Java was installed and working correctly. About a week later, when going to a site that requires Java, she's prompted to install it. When I try to install it I download the latest version (V6U23) and I get and the error: "Internal Error 2753: regutils.dll" This happens with either the online or offline install option. Google says that this could be an issue with older versions of Java but there is no older version listed in Programs and Features. But IE has a plug-in for Java. Also, there is nothing about this on Java's site. I'm not sure if this is a Windows thing or Java, since it seems that the 2753 error has shown up for other, non-Java, installs. Anyone see this before? I tried a registry cleanup utility like you suggested but that didn't work. But I then did a search for "Java" in the registry and deleted the keys that referenced any install file. (After backing up the reg of course). Then Java installed fine. Weird. Thanks for the p

There is a good way to deal with any such type of installation issue with java. I work with Java deployment team and landing into such issues is our day to day job. When on windows platform, definitely the Microsoft tool (windows installer cleanup tool) is useful, I suggest you to try with that first to clean the machine. If that does not work, follow the below steps and then install a fresh copy of java (jre). 1) Delete the jre folder default location would be : C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 (if you have installed in some other location, delete that jre folder). 2) Clean the java files inside windows folder (this step is not really needed and can be skipped even) delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\java.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\jav
