When I try to install it I download the latest version (V6U23) and I get and the error: "Internal Error 2753: regutils.dll" This happens with either the online or offline install option. Google says that this could be an issue with older versions of Java but there microsoft fix it windows 10 is no older version listed in Programs and Features. But IE has a plug-in for Java. Also, there is nothing about this on Java's site. I'm not sure if this is a Windows thing or Java, since it seems that the 2753 error has shown up for other, non-Java, installs. Have you tried doing a registry cleanup and then installing again? Or installing in another admin account? 0 Anaheim OP DogFacedGod Feb 4, 2011 at 3:45 UTC I got it. I tried a registry cleanup utility like you suggested but that didn't work. But I then did a search for "Java" in the registry and deleted the keys that referenced any install file. (After backing up the reg of course). Then Java installed fine. Weird. Thanks for the push in the right direction! 0 Pimiento

I tried to uninstall it, but once again, nothing happened. Then, I tried to find where the program was located. It was somewhere deep, I can't remember. But I deleted it. I restarted the computer, and it was still located under programs. I was so rattled. So I was trying to install Java again anyways, and it kept saying "cannot locate old Java file" and stuff like that. I clicked cancel, and it said "failure to uninstall Java. Please contact technical support." About 5 minutes after not calling tech support, I found this thing called Microsoft Fix It. Fixed the problem right away. Uninstalled Java, too. I went to Java.com and installed Java 7 Update 17, and it worked!Thank you so much for your help! Can't find your answer ? Ask ! is this to you? Average Rating 0 43586 views 04/21/2009 Software Deployment The following two errors occur after attempting an uninstall of JRE 1.6u13 when it was deployed by Group Policy. [blockquote]Product: Java(TM) 6 Update 13 -- Internal Error 2753. regutils.dll The removal of application Java(TM) 6 Update 13 from policy Software_JRE_1.6 failed. The error was : Fatal error during installation. [/blockquote] The first removal appears to work, and the installation is gone, Add/Remove Programs entry comes back immediately (albeit with the wrong icon etc.). If you reboot the machine (I would expect it to install itself again because of Group Policy, the machine hangs at logon. If you try to uninstall it again via Add/Remove Programs, the above two errors appear. I suspect these errors are what's causing the hang when logging in. All the files (including regutils.dll) on the hard disk are gone and there is no mention of 'regutils' in the registry. What there *is* though, is the information about Group Policy software (see below). Deleting this key will fix the problem... the Add/Remove entry goes away, and a further reboot will install the JRE again successfully.
