We now tried to install our Software on another Server. But it happened again. The same error on the second Server! As mentioned above the installation runs fine on many servers. We only have this problem on servers of one single customer. When looking in the directory mentioned in the error message the msi File is still there! SYSTEM Group has full access rights to that folder (installer). It is not a integrity problem of the msi-File itself. It runs fine on different servers. Only the Servers we wanted to install the Software 'productive' wont work ;( what else could i check? On XPSP2 with latest Genuine Advantage Tool (which updated MS installer), I just downloaded the beta MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe, ran it as local admin, and this error occurred. From KB articles on this error, it would appear that %windir%\installer permissions might be wrong, but they aren't, admin & system have full control. However, from Google search results, it appears the NTFS EFS (encrypting file system) causes problems if the installer package is encrypted. But I have only "My Documents", and Local Settings\Temp and Local Settings\Application Data encrypted for obvious reasons. EFS is probably the culprit here, but if anyone knows different, please let me know. I googled a bunch of stuff, and it all seemed to revolve around permissions--I didn't spot any references to EFS. I'd have thought that EFS was supposed to be transparent. I can imagine that the encryption of TEMP may be the issue here, if EFS is http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/internal-error-2755-110-on-install-from-msi-execution.2177352/ really at fault. I've EFS encrypted TEMP and am running a "repair" via control panel, add or remove programs--but my CPU is pegged (piii-750)--so I'm not sure what is happening--haven't seen the error message anyway. I think I will kill this and try an uninstall/reinstall. -- "Bill" <> wrote in message news:... > On XPSP2 with latest Genuine Advantage Tool (which updated MS installer), > I > just downloaded the beta MicrosoftAntiSpywareInstall.exe, ran it as local > admin, and this error occurred. It seemed to be caused by some file or sub-folders in the installation folder (by default put on the desktop) being read only. I cleared the read only box and propagated that to all objects then re-ran the setup program in the installation folder. Success. Not a Bug Impact on me: None Category:MySQL Server: Installing Severity:S3 (Non-critical) Version:mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi OS:Microsoft Windows (Windows) Assigned to: Iggy Galarza View Add Comment Files Developer Edit Submission View Progress Log Contributions [7 May 2006 8:37] Robin Twiggs Description: When running "mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi" the following error prevents installation and is reported to the event log: Event Type: Error Event Source: MsiInstaller Event Category: None Event ID: 10005 Product: MySQL Server 4.1 -- Internal Error 2755. 110, mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi How to repeat: With Windows XP: Right-click "mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi" Choose Properties Choose Advanced ( on the General tab which is open by default ) Check "Encrypt Contents to Secure Data" Choose "OK" and "OK" to encrypt the msi installer. Run "mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi" Installation will fail with "Internal Error 2755". Unencrypt "mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi" Run "mysql-essential-4.1.11-win32.msi" Installation succeeds. Suggested fix: I'm not sure if there is a fix since the Windows MSI Installer appears to be the problem. Just reported this as I'm sure others will have a similar problem - you can encrypt the file unintentionally on downloading it by saving it to a windows folder which is set to encrypt contents of that folder. [7 May 2006 12:27] Miguel Solorzano Thank you for the bug report. Could you please try the most recent released version 4.1.19 at: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/4.1.html Thanks in advance. [15 May 2006 11:38] Robin Twiggs I have tested version "mysql-essential-5.0.21-win32.msi" and get a similar error when the msi installer is encrypted by the file system. [22 Jun 2006 15:56] Miguel Solorzano Thank you for the bug report. I was able to repeat with mysql-essential-5.0.22-win32.msi too. [14 Sep 2006 3:33] Iggy Galarza In order to execute properly, Microsoft installer packages must be unencrypted and installed from an unencrypted directory to an unencrypted directoy.
