To resolve the issue, you must uninstall and reinstall the .NET Framework. How to fix it Solution: Uninstall and reinstall the .NET Framework Important: These troubleshooting steps may help resolve your issue. They focus on the Windows operating system, which is not an Intuit product. Intuit recommends that you find the expert assistance that you need by consulting your computer's manufacturer or a Windows expert to work with these steps. If the difficulty persists after performing these steps, contact your computer's manufacturer or Microsoft. Uninstall the .NET Framework: Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and choose Control Panel. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. Scroll down and select Microsoft .NET framework, then click the Change/Remove button. Note: If you have multiple versions of .NET framework installed, remove all of them starting with the one at the bottom. Reinstall the .NET Framework: Insert your QuickBooks CD in the CD drive. Click the Start button and choose My Computer. Right-click the CD drive and choose Explore. Double-click the ThirdParty folder, and then: QuickBooks Desktop 2016 and 2017: Double-click the DOTNET46 folder, and then double-click DOTNETFX46.exe. QuickBooks Desktop 2014 and 2015: Double-click the DOTNET40 folder, and then double-click DOTNETFX40.exe. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the framework. keep me busy. Monday, March 3, 2008 Quickbooks Repair on the store PC
I located the store's .qbw file on my laptop (the Linux partition is still fine), moved it to a stick, and took it to the store. Goal: Install the latest company data on the store PC, since I had been updating at home.
QuickBooks has encountered a problem and needs to close. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTUIT\QUICKBOOKS\QBW32.EXE
Okay, go to Add/Remove Control Panel and repair it...

Argh. Turns out https://community.intuit.com/articles/1020334-error-internal-error-2908-when-installing-an-update I had weeded unused programs last week. I hate bloat. I had removed Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
. Who knew it was installed by Quickbooks?
Put in the Quickbooks CD. It recognized that the correct component was missing, and installed it. Ejected the CD and put it away.
Went back to Add/Remove and the Repair option. It chugged a while (20-30 minutes) and reported success. Tried it with the moved company file....success! We're http://cheesehead-techblog.blogspot.com/2008/03/quickbooks-repair-on-store-pc.html back in business.
