However the base of the problem here is that Symantec has virtually (pun) no support. I had tried to reach tech support on week days and week ends and at various times. The bottom line is that Symantec has dropped it's amount of support for online chat to a lower level. As I am currently studying for a computer science degree the software and companies that I work with MUST provide adequate support as to be reached at the time of the problem. By way of example if a computer has a hardware and/or software issue I need to be able to get my tools and fix the problem at that time not the next day or a week from that day. This creates a problem as Symantec seems to be of a careless manner to the factor of time. Just to be clear as to the problem with technical support my computer that I was using was and is virus/ad ware/spy ware/trojan/and all other forms of malware free. To confirm this I also used another computer on the same network to try the technical support chat applet (or whatever you would like to call it) and had the same results. Also it could not be a networking issue (router, hub, switch, modem, etc) as this would have other manifestations as well. Also you can check to see if you can ping and be pinged with many programs and even in a VDM (Virtual DOS Machine) window. To assume that it is a networking issue or other form of problem on my end is fallacious and gives rise to the memories of third rate technical support persons from Mediacom who tell people that they must unplug their router and turn off all anti-virus and firewall security. As for the technical problem I was (past tense) having but

I https://community.norton.com/en/forums/error-code-006-partition-magic-8 have version 8.02 and since I had to reformat, my serial number no longer works. Symantec has been NO help in the situation. They gave me a new serial number that does not work. I am affraid since PartitionMagic is in the hands of Symantec it will only get WORSE! I'm going with Partition Commander. It's ashame, I spent a lot of money on PartitionMagic only to be kicked to the curb. December 28, 2004 9:21 AM Anonymous http://computergripes.blogspot.com/2004/08/partition-magic.html said... I've been using Partition Magic on and off for a number of years now, (being the resident geek) genernally only on the rare occasion that I need to help some of family members solve computer problems. This particular problem involved someone who had created a backup/restore partition using the IBM software that came with her laptop. Later on, realizeing she never used it, she wanted to restore the backup storage to her primary parition. In order to solve this, I merged it back into the primary. Partition Magic said that it would leave a directory with all the data from the secondary partition on the primary. This worked, however after copying the data out of the directory, all that it contains is the 'System Volume Information', which cannot be moved/deleted. Now there is an essentially empty directory in the root of the primary partition which windows will not allow me to delete.Although it is not a critical problem, I wonder if there is any way to delete this directory.Any help is appreciated,master@cafe-espresso.orgThanks December 31, 2004 2:05 PM Anonymous said... partition magic can find set up program sys no help January 12, 2005 7:25 PM Anonymous said... i also had a error 1518 can ANYONE please help me???dutchmxnl@gmail.com January 18, 2005 11:44 AM Bach8351 said... After I select the Partition Magic utility from the menu, I get an "Internal Error Code internal error 006". I haven't been able to find anything by googling this error code. Does anyone here know how to fix this? _________________Athlon64 3000+ @ 2.6 GHz, Radeon 9550, Seasonic S12-380, Zalman CNPS7000-Cu, Yate Loon 120mm, Centurion 5 caseCore2Duo E6320 @ 2.4GHz, Seasonic S12-330, Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu, Yate Loon 120mm, Ultra MicroFly Top Ralf Hutter Post subject: Posted: Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:01 am internal error code SPCR Reviewer Joined: Sat Nov 23, 2002 6:33 amPosts: 8636Location: Sunny SoCal Powerquest used to have a list of the error codes on their website. Symantec bought them out a few years ago, so maybe that list can now be found on the Symantec site. (Just my 2¢, but I'd be really, really, really careful using PM. At least backup all your data first.) _________________Main Box: Intel i3-3225, Intel DH77EB, 16GB Corsair RAM, 256GB Samsung 830, SS360GP PSU, CM PS07 case.Music Server: Intel DH77EB + i3-3220, 2xSamsung 2TB F4, Pico PSU, Fractal Define Mini, 2xScythe Fans @250 rpm. If I remember correctly, that error refers to a particular HD that PM cannot handle. Can you hook the drive up as a slave drive.....run PM in windows and see if it can format the drive that way? Might work like that.... _________________"At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child - miserable, as all spoiled chil

Thanx, I had seen that. Alas, it does not include error 702. My theory is that the error resulted because I assigned drive letter T, rather than the earlier available drive letter O. Thanx, I had seen that and more via Google. One posting seems to back my theory of skipping a drive letter. Amazingly, tho PM has not been supported for years, Symantec still sells the critter for $69.95, but one can periodically get PM free as part of a bundle. I know that Acronis Disk Director is much better. I suspect that Paragon's product is also better. Is there a web page that compares Acronis Disk Director with Paragon's product?
