Robert Jackson | 4 Comments The Problem I had refreshed one of our dev databases but the database we were refreshing it from was still open at the time when the disks were flushed at the SAN level and there must have been transactions still in process. One of the steps is to enable archivelog mode and it failed with the following error: alter database archivelog * ERROR at line 1: ORA-00265: instance recovery required, cannot set ARCHIVELOG mode Before getting the exact sequence of commands to run I first tried opening the database and got an ORA00600 error: SQL> alter http://dbamahamudul.blogspot.com/2014/08/solution-ora-00600-internal-error-code.html database open; alter database open * ERROR at line 1: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcratr_scan_lastbwr], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [] The Cause This is documented on Metalink note "ORA-600 [kcratr_scan_lastbwr] [ID 1267231.1]" and the workaround suggested below The Solution To recover from this use the following sequence of commands: SQL> alter database recover database; Database altered. SQL> alter database open; Database altered. SQL> http://www.ora00600.com/wordpress/scripts/ora600/ora-00600-internal-error-code-arguments-kcratr_scan_lastbwr/ shutdown immediate Database closed. 6, 2014 7 Comments While working today on a Database I found that database was in mount state and I was able to login using SYS account, however while connecting with https://khansjak.wordpress.com/2014/03/06/ora-00600-internal-error-code-arguments-kcratr_scan_lastbwr/ any other account (normal user), I was keep getting error as ORA-01033: ORACLE http://oracle.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/oracle-db-l/oracledblora00600-internal-error-code-arguments-kcratr1_lastbwr-2786939 initialization or shutdown in progress . Then I tried using - SQL> startup Force open; However it did get problem resolved then I followed these steps, which resolve my problem. Hope it will be worth sharing with all my readers those who are working with datbases. Aww snap I got ORA-00600:Internal Error internal error Code, and blah blah blah I was not able to connect to any of the schema as the database was always failed to open. The reason I searched and concluded was Oracle Database remains in mounted state. It can't be opened. If it is focibly opened it throws error (ora-00600) , There is another alternate way too which I got from internet. [Pretty less steps but dint worked for me L] ORACLE instance shut down.
