oracleClient92 Release 9.2.0.3.0 [message #115093] Thu, 07 April 2005 07:53 tom3025 Messages: 1Registered: April 2005 Junior Member Hello! We have an Excel-File with queries to our Oracle DB. To get the data we use "ThisWorkbook.RefreshAll". Problem: With 'oracleClient92 Release 9.2.0.3.0 - Production' all worked as it should. But with 'oracleClient92 Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production' we get an error. Excel shows the Msg: "Oracle http://www.myoracleworld.net/BI-NLS-error01.html ODBC Driver Internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load." So if checked the NLS-Settings: Client:SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ NLS_LANG --> AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ALL_HOMES\ID0 NLS_LANG --> AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0 NLS_LANG --> AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 Server:Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning option JServer http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/43832/ Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production NAME TYPE VALUE ------------------------------------ ----------- -------- nls_calendar string nls_comp string nls_currency string nls_date_format string nls_date_language string nls_dual_currency string nls_iso_currency string nls_language string AMERICAN nls_length_semantics string BYTE nls_nchar_conv_excp string FALSE nls_numeric_characters string nls_sort string nls_territory string AMERICA nls_time_format string nls_time_tz_format string nls_timestamp_format string nls_timestamp_tz_format string I can't see anything that is wrong here!? Now I tested with 'Release 9.2.0.3.0 - Production': (To get the Client to 9.2.0.3.0, I’ve just copied the 'bin' Folder from the oracleClient92 Folder of another PC (no new installation).) I've changed the NLS_LANG Reg-Keys to GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8ISO8859P1. All worked fine. Then I’ve changed the Keys to JAPANESE_JAPAN.JA16EUCTILDE. With this setting in can't connect to the database. So this means, my ODBC-Problem with Release 9.2.0.5.0 is after the connection to the Database, right? Does anyone know this error? Can your help me? Thanks a lot!
normal. As far as I know there have been no updates to the ORacle DB, the Windows XP operating system or the ODBC Drivers. Today when I opened access http://www.dllgive.com/know/oracle-odbc-internal-error-unable-to-initialize-nls-during-driver-load.html and visual case 2 to connect to Oracle I was at first greeted with http://stackoverflow.com/questions/29783134/getting-ms-office-2013-32-bit-excel-and-access-to-connect-to-oracle-database-w a: unable to connect SQLState=IM004 SQL_HANDLE_ENV error. ODBC also kept crashing. I restarted the computer and was confronted with a different error: odbc SQLSTate 08004 ORA 12154 TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified I was able to fix this error by setting the environment variable TNS_ADMIN in windows xp environment variables. I'm extremely confused internal error about how this happened though as it was working and I don't think anything has changed. I was then able to connect to the database via Microsoft Access but when I opened Visual Case 2 and tried to make an update, I was confronted with the following error: Oracle ODBC Driver - internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load I looked in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home2 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb10g_home1 unable to initialize and NLS_LANG was set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252" in all 3 places. (Though KEY_OraClient10g_home2 only had 4 entries as opposed to KEY_OraClient10g_home1's 13 entries)... Since I made those changes I can no longer connect through Access. I just receive a ODBC - connection to 'xxx' failed Advice greatly appreciated!!!! Edited by: user11150264 on Aug 25, 2009 10:21 PM Advertisement Reply Actually it sort of does... I switched the ODBC connection to use instant client and now it's all working again. The biggest mystery is what changed to make it suddenly stop working the old way... I'm currently running Windows 7 64 bit with Microsoft Office 32 bit. We are dependent on some 32 bit applications and are working with a team of people - most of whom have 32 bit OS machines, so I need to run Office 32 bit. Currently, I'm creating and maintaining some Excel macro-enabled workbooks that our staff uses to submit information to access databases. The access databases make connections to oracle using the sqora32.dll driver and the excel workbooks connect using oraclient11.dll. I recently got a build of ArcGIS Pro, which requires a 64 bit oracle client and have been testing it for use on our production floor. I thought I had successfully installed the 64 bit oracle instant client (I have the full administrator version of the 32 bit oracle client) because everything worked great. The rest of my 32 bit software connects fine. However, when I try to make an oracle connection through access, the driver fails or I get a kernelbase error and Access completely crashes. When I try the query through Excel vba, I get an error from the Oracle ODBC Driver. It says, Internal Error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load. My event log shows the oraclient11.dll failing. When I try connecting using the "Run as administrator" option, the applications don't completely crash, they just stop working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 32 bit oracle client, setting oracle_home environment variable, a work-around using softlinks in c:\windows\system32 and changing the order of the entries in the PATH environment variable, and setting the NLS_LANG environmen
