I went into the control panel, and I see Java 7u10 in my installed programs. It doesn't have the normal java logo, though, it's just a plain .exe logo. I can't uninstall it. I tried to uninstall it, but once again, nothing happened. Then, I tried to find where the program was located. It was somewhere deep, I can't remember. But I deleted it. I restarted the computer, and it was still located under programs. I was so rattled. So I was trying to install Java again anyways, and it kept saying "cannot locate old Java file" and stuff like that. I clicked cancel, and it said "failure to uninstall Java. Please contact technical support." About 5 minutes after not calling tech support, I found this thing called Microsoft Fix It. Fixed the problem right away. Uninstalled Java, too. I went to Java.com and installed Java 7 Update 17, and it worked! Thank you so much for your help! Share Can't f

There is a good way to deal with any such type of installation issue with java. I work with Java deployment team and landing into such issues is our day to day job. When on windows platform, definitely the Microsoft tool (windows installer cleanup tool) is useful, I suggest you to try with that first to clean the machine. If that does not work, follow the below steps and then install a fresh copy of java (jre). 1) Delete the jre folder default location would be : C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 (if you have installed in some other location, delete that jre folder). 2) Clean the java files inside windows folder (this step is not really needed and can be skipped even) delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\java.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaws.exe 3) Now the important step which need be done with little car
