I'm being forced to do it this way because application B is 3rd party and I don't have the source $' is undefined internet explorer code to it. Everything worked fine in IE 9 until I started using the IFrame. It gives me the error: 'jQuery' is undefined. This doesn't happen in Firefox or Chrome. I have verified through IE's debugger that the jquery-ui-1.10.3 file is being pulled in. How can I fix this? jquery internet-explorer iframe internet-explorer-9 share|improve this question edited Jan 23 '14 at 19:43 t0mppa 2,75721939 asked Jan 23 '14 at 19:34 Sean 199111 Working with iFrames in IE is truly a dark art. –Gjohn Jan 23 '14 at 19:38 1 I'm guessing you're running into cross-domain issues. If you're calling the 3rd party app in from another domain, the jQuery you have will work on your page, but I believe it will be restricted from affecting the content inside the iframe. –Jason M. Batchelor Jan 23 '14 at 19:38 But the same solution is working fine (so far) from within Chrome and Firefox. –Sean Jan 23 '14 at 20:03 In my case, reverting to jquery 1.x did the trick (instead of a 2.x version). –Kimball Robinson F

to update this issue Jump to:Most recent comment Hi. I'm using Pixture Reloaded with no problem in Firefox and Midora (Webkit-based browser). But, when I try http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21317701/ie-9-throwing-error-jquery-is-undefined-when-launching-from-within-an-ifram to load the same site in IE6, I get a "'jQuery' is undefined" error on line 25, which is the line in the head that calls jQuery.extend(). I found a report of this same issue in the Salamander theme: http://drupal.org/node/170590 and http://drupal.org/node/170579 . The latter recommends adding drupal_add_js('jQuery.js', ...) or similar https://www.drupal.org/node/326815 to page.tpl.php, but that doesn't seem to help, since it just adds a , which is already present. Outside of Drupal, people who report this problem sometimes suggest running jQuery.noconflict(), but I haven't tried this or worked out the details yet. Thanks, Andrew. by older browsers that have not implemented the JSON object. The solution to this error is to download the json2 library and include it in your script, as shown below: The application uses the json2.js library for browsers that haven't implemented http://www.devcurry.com/2010/12/resolve-json-is-undefined-error-in.html the JSON object yet. After adding the json2.js library, you can now test the application on IE7 and you will get the desired output Note: All the latest browsers like Firefox 3.5+, IE 8+, Chrome, Safari 4+ etc. have http://forums.asp.net/t/1915490.aspx?JavaScript+runtime+error+Internet+Explorer+Specific+ built-in JSON capability. Unhandled exception at line 1, column 1 in http://localhost:62894/Scripts/jquery-2.0.1.intellisense.js 0x800a1391 - JavaScript runtime error: 'intellisense' is undefined I assume more info is needed to give me good advice, but to start, why is this happening only in IE, and is there a simple solution to the problem. Thank you, Nick Reply crowcoder Participant 1863 Points 524 Posts Re: JavaScript runtime error (Internet Explorer Specific) Jun 17, 2013 10:16 AM|crowcoder|LINK I have a feeling there is probably still an error in the other browsers, they are just not complaining, maybe because only IE is configured to actually debug run. Are you missing any prerequisite scripts? You probably need to load the basic jquery.js first or something like that.
