Restarting the camera doesn't do anything. A big thank you to the folks that helped me fix it. Where I live there is no place that fixes these camera. I had a lens error restart camera canon powershot s3 is really great repair experience fixing it with this particular place, they just specialize in the Canon Powershot cameras only and they fixed the thing perfectly! I wanted to share my experience with others as I know I am not the only one to have to deal with this lens error problem. I sent them my video but since they can't post it, I thought to put it up myself. For those of you that are having this lens error thing, the site I used was terrific and they were way less than Canon for the repair, plus they service up the camera when it is in being fixed. I was discouraged but I kept doing it and I actually tried to lighting bang the camera on he table while opening the camera and it worked! Moral of the story there is probably dust but it won't get out the first time. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/24117/How+do+I+fix+my+disconnected+lens Try it a couple of times and bang it very gently on the table. Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended. Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a “click” as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on. i've found it on the net, here is the original text - if that won't help - go to the source page and read about the other options ----------------------

Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try. Was this answer helpful? Yes No Voted Undo Score 0 Cancel Add a comment 0
