restart camera. Lens Stuck Resolved Question: Power Shot A2000 IS Lens error, restart camera. Lens Stuck out won't retract. Submitted: 5 years ago. Category:Camera and Video Share this conversation Expert: Russell A. replied5 years ago. Hi,The lack of movement indicates that the lens error is shutting down the start up process. It may be misaligned or an internal component has failed. Here are a couple of links to some how to restart canon camera other things to try. With newer cameras I am usually hesitant to suggest these options since they include some more extreme procedures that may cause further damage if not done correctly, but since yours is probably no longer under warranty, they may save you an expensive repair bill. An older Canon camera is used to demonstrate these procedures but, the lens structure of these compact cameras is the same so the examples do apply to this unit. These procedures are effective about 60% of the time. Click on or copy and paste the links into your browser. FIX 1FIX 2If the "do it yourself" approach doesn't work out for you and you need conventional repair you can get an online estimate at the two links and please see the note belowwww.precisioncamera.comhttp://www.unitedcamera.com/canon-powershot-a2000-is/#ShowSelectionsNote: Considering the age and present value of this camera, paying the cost of having it repaired , approximately $90 is probably not worth it . The standard "rule of thumb" is if the repair cost is greater than 50% of the value of the camera, it is not worth it. A good used or refurbished Canon Powershot A2000is can be purchased for around $75 - $100 If, and only if my ans

Restarting the camera doesn't do anything. A big thank you to the folks that helped me fix it. Where I live there is no place that fixes these camera. I had a really great repair experience fixing it with this particular place, they just specialize in the Canon Powershot cameras only and they fixed the thing perfectly! I wanted to share my experience with others as I know I am not the only one to have to deal with this lens error problem. I sent them my video but since they can't post it, I thought to put it up myself. For those of you that are h

"Lens error, restart camera" October 30, 2007 UPDATE: My camera did return to life. Based on something I saw on some web forum, I popped the battery in and out several times, after which it mystically returned to normal operations. It still makes me lens error rather concerned... but I'm just glad to have it back!UPDATE #2 - April 5, 2010 - I wrote this post back in 2007 and have actually switched this year over to using a Nikon D90 as my main camera. However, judging by the comments this post continues to receive, the Canon SD1000 still has this issue, and... many people seem to solve the problem by simply giving canon powershot a2000 the camera a good solid whack on a hard surface or blowing compressed air on it. I didn't have to do that, but others did. Read through the comments for various suggestions and links... and obviously use your own discretion with regard to the risk you want to take (or not take) with your equipment. (i.e. the responsibility and choice is entirely yours if you whack your camera too hard and break it...) Woke up this morning to find that my Canon SD1000 point-and-shoot camera that I carry with me all the time at conferences seems to have died. When I start it up, I hear 6 beeps and then get this error "Lens error, restart camera". Yikes! Switched out the battery. Switched out the memory card. Tried various incantations. Still dead. Judging from comments I see in online forums here and here, this is indeed a bad thing. I'm not getting the "E18" error that people mention, but I'm getting the "Lens error, restart camera" error. Suggestions are welcome if anyone reading this has had the issue and figured out how to fix it (outside of bringing it back to the store... which isn't
the card back in, and turned it back on to hear the beeps and read the error18 message. i can see that the lense isn't fully seated. The shutter is not closed obvioucly either. I tried all of the T.S. steps listed to no avail. Was considering purchasing a Canon SLR but after reading of Canon's failure to responde to this am having second guesses. EmailPosted October 30, 2011 11:27 amRoyCamSince my earlier post this morning, I tried gently applying pressure on the lens and wiggled it (it was stuck out) as I turned the camera back off, and was able to get it to retract. Now it is working fine after several times (knock on wood!). WebsiteEmailPosted October 30, 2011 11:02 amRoyCamWent down to Cherry Creek this morning with my PowerShot S2 IS and took a few nature shots - then I got the dreaded E18 error for the first time. I could hear the camera clicking a few times, then the quick beeping, then the E18 error. I am glad I found this web site with repair instructions - I don't want to wait for Canon to repair it. I dropped it many times and used it all the time. When E18 appeared, I just about had a fit, because I love this camera so much... the quality of the pictures was superb, flawless. After removing the batteries for a few weeks until I found this site, I put the batteries back in and it worked again like new! During that time however, I had purchased another Canon A75 refurbis
