Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended. Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a “click” as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on. i've found it on the net, here is the original text - if that won't help - go to the source page and read about the other options -----

The company was called and they refuse to fix the problem or to do a recall even though there are many people complaining about the problem. The company issued a firmware patch but it doesn't work. I have asked the retail store for a refund and they refused. I asked the company for a refund so I could purchase a different camera and they refused. The company said that I could pay to have the camera repaired but I cannot afford to do so. I just want my money back for a poor product!!Helpful?YesNoPeter of Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 29, 2014Satisfaction RatingI bought this lens 5 years ago but did not use it until 3 years ago. The problems are more the degradation of the lens than the performance. Performance wise, it is slow to focus and it hurts. With good light the images are quite good. I have difficulty opening it, have to grip it with legs and pull (lately). Yesterday I had a hard time closing it and the sharpness seems to be eroding fast. It's a real shame because I need a 400 mm lens and cannot just run out and buy a new one. I would rather have the 400 5.6 than spend a bunch of money fixing this. Canon has not come out with a new generation 400 and I understand that they don't want to compete with their own lenses, but I don't understand why they don't want to compete with their competitors.Helpful?YesNodeborah of Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 13, 2014Satisfaction RatingOn June 17, we sent in an ELP 320 Canon camera for repair to Canon's repair center at 100 Ridge Rd.
