Restarting the camera doesn't do anything. A big thank you to the folks that helped me fix it. Where I live there is no place that fixes these camera. I had a really great repair experience fixing it with this particular place, they just specialize in the Canon Powershot cameras only and they fixed the thing perfectly! I wanted to share my experience with others as I know I am not the only one to have to deal with this lens error problem. I sent them my video but since they can't post it, I thought to put it up myself. For those of you that are having this lens error thing, the site I used was terrific and they were way less than Canon for the repair, plus they service up the camera when it is in being fixed. The camera is performing flawlessly now and I am again a happy camper! Categorie Mensen & blogs Licentie Standaard YouTube-licentie Meer weergeven Minder weergeven Laden... Check the space around the lens and see if the spacing is equal distance all the way around. Sometimes you can use a vacuum cleaner and apply vacuum suction on the lens while powering it on. this may remove some of the dirt/debris and free the mechanism. If none of that works, you may have to replace the lens. The guide for that is here. Hope this helps, good luck. out. Camera turns itself off with lens out. When restarted says "lens error" and "restart camera" Answers : Your camera's lens is faulty as the error indicates. Probably some kind of mechanical obstruction. Turn off the cam remove the battery hold for about 1 min put it back in then power up the cam. When the lens tries to retrace gently push it in with your hand. If its a minor obstruction then it should be cleared. After that you have to reset the error message. Remove the battery again. Put it back in turn on, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds and the message will be reset. If the problem persists then I am afraid its time for a service call as the lens has to be disassembled and the lens gears have to be cleared of the obstruction You can get the info regarding the nearest service center you can click the link below and then chose one of the contact optionshttp://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ContactCanonActGoodluck,Sai. Hi, The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended.1.Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.2.Remove the batteries, then remove the memory card. Then install new batteries, and turn on the camera. \015\012Thank you !!
