If you don't have a card reader in your computer(s), they are available inexpensively, for example: amazon.com/Mini-Memory-Card-Reader-Writer/dp/B000FNDWLQ/… –coneslayer May 6 '11 at 13:54 2 I got this issue with my camera too, when my son dropped it in the sand. Here's how to find out if your camera is one of those affected. Advertisement Any faulty models will fall under certain serial number ranges which are as follows:The first and second digits of the camera's serial number are any number from"29" through"41." For example: "29xxxxxxxxxx", "30xxxxxxxxxx"………"41xxxxxxxxxx"According to Canon, certain S100s are susceptible to the lens error, which is caused by a disconnected part within the lens. The part comes loose when the camera is exposed to high-temperatures and/or humidity. If you're experiencing the same issue, and Canon confirms that it's caused by the disconnected part, the comapny will repair it for free. For more details, head over to Canon USA. [Canon via The Verge] Advertisement Update: Canon reached out to clarify that it has only issued an advisory about the problem. It's not a full product recall. If you're having problems with the lens, the company will happily fix it, but it's not calling in all of the S100s within the above serial number range.Gear from Kinja DealsCuisinart's Soft Serve Machine Actually Makes Soft ServeHang All The Things With Hercules HooksBlow Up a Hot Tub In Your Backyard For Under $350Reply20 repliesLeave a reply You may also likeAdequate ManDo Assholes Know They’re Assholes?Today 1:43pmLifehackerEverything Google Announced at Its "Made By Google" Event that Actually MattersToday 2:31pmTruck YeahPrediction: The 'New Bronco' Isn't A Bronco At All24 minutes agoRecent from Mario Aguilar24719.1KGizmodo · Mario AguilarGoogle's New 4K Chromecast Ultra Is Way FastToday 1:10pm1531.9KGizmodo · Mario AguilarNikon's Action Cameras Are Late to the Party, But Very Well Dressed9/19/16 10:57am2145277.6KGizmodo · Gizmodo StaffOur Apple iPhone 7 Event Liveblog Is Right Here9/07/16 9:47amShareTweet About BlogNeed Help?Content GuidePermissionsPrivacyTerms of UseAdvertisingJobsRSS©2016 Gizmodo Media GroupKinja is in read-only mode.
