- Communications between the camera and the lens... (both 7D and 60D) May lens error canon s110 12, 2011 So while I was shooting this past Saturday, I had this error:"Err 01 Communications between the camera and lens error canon powershot sd1300 is lens is faulty. Clean the lens contacts."pop up on my camera. At the time, I had my Canon 17-55 lens on my 7D. I then tried the lens on my 60D. Same thing.I've done http://photo.net/canon-eos-digital-camera-forum/00bOrc a little googleing... and many people have suggested trying to manually clean the lens contacts. However, the most recent post I found on this was a few years old. Can anyone give me feedback/tips/advice on trying this method?Or, is it better to send it to Canon (or a local camera shop) to have it repaired. How much would it cost to repair the lens? Thanks! I think it could be due to moisture where you shoot. Turn it off, then try again. Sometimes it works for a number of shots, then is happening again.not sure if polishing the contact would be the permanent solution ... the contact could be oxidised by the water vapour perhaps ? just a guess though .sorry cannot help you more than this ...cheersjordy2324 wrote:So while I was shooting this past Saturday, I had this error:"Err 01 Communications between the camera and lens is faulty. About a week canon lens error ago, I went on a trip, took pictures the whole trip, everything was ok. When I got home, and tried to turn the camera to move the pictures to my PC, I got an error: "Lens error, restart camera" The lens doesn't even start to open, doesn't make any sounds of trying even. If you don't have a card reader in your computer(s), they are available inexpensively, for example: amazon.com/Mini-Memory-Card-Reader-Writer/dp/B000FNDWLQ/… –coneslayer May 6 '11 at 13:54 2 I got this issue with my camera too, when my son dropped it in the sand. The lens mechanism retraction is very fragile. One grain of sand is enough to break the camera. In our case, we got the camera for less than a week, so we returned
