Canon S100 Lens Error Recall
13, 2012 I wonder how many of you have experienced Canon's infamous canon s100 lens error repair 'Lens Error' issue? My recently bought S100 camera succumbed. It was bought at T-Dimension in Hong Kong in March 2012.
Canon S100 Lens Error Will Shutdown Automatically
As Canon proclaimed it was a manufacturing fault, I assumed Canon Australia would fix the fault. Nope. (A few days later I received an email from them saying they would canon s100 lens error won't retract in fact fix it. Meantime I'd already sent the camera off to seller in Hong Kong). This kind of response from Canon was going to prove prophetic. Read on:So having duly sent the camera off to T-Dimension Hong Kong, they now say Canon claim it is a user fault??? They sent me three pictures of the camera's exterior to prove this. The camera in s100 lens error restart camera the picture looked damaged in a way that mine was definitely not. Even so; wouldn't you say the INSIDE of the camera would be better way to ascertain exactly what the fault was? I wanted T-dimension to confirm my camera serial number was that on the pictured camera. The number they quoted me was NOTHING like a Canon S100 serial. Different sequence and numbers altogether. Go figure. (Mine has 30xxxxxx prefix - in the nasty 29-41 batch!)Now T-Dimension are demanding money for camera repair and shipping... having already posted to them at my expense. (Did I mention it's still under Warranty!!!)They will not give me any information in relation to either the camera, likely costs or who exactly is doing the repair. So either Canon are refusing to take responsibility for the manufacturing fault or T-Dimension are pulling a fast one thru a third party repairer so they can avoid both postage (and repair?) costs. Presently T-Dimension, other than giving me lots of 'anything we can do to help' on their emails, has failed to inform me of a single fact pertaining to the repair of my camera. I ha

It certainly doesn't hurt that the S100 also offers Full HD video capture, plus a built-in GPS receiver that's used both to geotag s100 lens error images with their capture location, and to keep the camera's clock in sync. All isn't entirely rosy in S100 user land, though. From early this year, some users have been finding a Lens Error messagedisplayed on their camera's LCD panel. The message typically indicate issues with the lens mechanism that can be caused by accidental knocks and bumps, dirt getting inside the lens barrel, and the like. In the case of the PowerShot S100, though, it turns out that the problem can potentially occur simply by using the camera in areas of high temperature or humidity.According to a product advisory published by the company yesterday, the problem manifests itself after a part inside the camera becomes disconnected. Canon states that the problem is restricted to cameras with a serial number starting with any number from 29 to 41. Should your Canon S100 suffer from the problem, the company's US division has pledged to fix it free of charge, even if the warranty has already expired. (With, of course, a note that these free repairs will continue only for as long as the company's standard service period for the specific model, not to be confused with the user's warranty period.) Canon UK likewise pledges a free fix, although it doesn't mention whether this will be extended after warranty expiration. Canon Canada doesn't seem to have made

Share 3 August 2015 In this day of point-and-click technology, most people do not know how to troubleshoot their gadgets since there is very little required in the way of setup that must be done before the device can be used. This is especially true of newer digital cameras, such as the Canon PowerShot S100. You simply take this camera from its box, turn it on, and you are ready to start shooting. Although this is terrific from a user's perspective, imagine that you are taking photos with your Canon S100 one day and the camera suddenly stops working. If this happens to you, there are several ways to troubleshoot your Canon before sending it out for repair or buying a replacement camera. Diagnose the Problem The first step in troubleshooting the Canon S100 or any other digital camera, including other Canon PowerShot models, is to figure out what component is not working properly. Because cameras have many moving parts, there are any number of possible parts that could have stopped working. Another factor to consider is whether you or someone else may have dropped or banged the camera around, or dropped it in water. The first step in troubleshooting is to turn the camera on and figure out where the problem exists. If the camera does not turn on, for example, perhaps it needs a new battery. If your camera turns on, it is likely not a power issue at fault. The next step is to determine whether the error is mechanical or software related as the fixes for these types of problems are completely different. Mechanical Issues A
