They are trying to get out of actually fixing the situation by forcing an out of warranty repair. I barely used this camera so I know that the rust and corrosion is not something I caused. They have serviced multiple cameras for me and they are excellent (about half the price of Canon). This is who I used: www.camerasandparts.com Good luck with the proble

lens (probably bumped) that I dismantled and tried to repair, but the damaged part was unrepairable. Then I bought a lens unit, canon s110 lens error fix given as not affected by the lens problem. So I assembled the lens unit in my camera and everything worked well for weeks... until today: the camera wasn't dropped or bumped and was always in a cushioned carry https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/220694/Why+am+I+getting+a+Lens+Error bag.I didn't want to give up so I dismantled the camera again, checking at every step if the lens was able to come to life again, until it did!I noticed a small connector in the front part of the naked camera that was not sitting well in its receptacle so I reseated it properly, add a small piece of tape to avoid further dislodging and reassembled everything. This is the connector that could https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/51148353 be causing the lens error: the little play the lens assembly has can induce a slight traction and lead to a disalignment of the little plug and then a false contact. In my case unplugging, plugging back again and securing with a little piece of tape, solved the lens error! The camera now works flawlessy and I'm an happy camper again! Hope this helps...;-) Reply to thread Reply with quote Complain ForumParentFirstPreviousNextFlat view Post (hide subjects) Posted by When Powershot S100 lens error solved effeotto Mar 24, 2013 9 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved brianj Mar 25, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved effeotto Mar 25, 2013 1 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved CameraCarl Mar 25, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved Joel D Mar 26, 2013 1 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved VasMan Mar 26, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved artcameleon Jul 29, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved belle2 Mar 20, 2014 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved panamforeman Mar 26, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved effeotto Mar 26, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved guamy Mar 27, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens error solved peter42y Mar 27, 2013 Re: Powershot S100 lens

Your help in sharing will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera, a stuck lens, jammed lens, or a malfunctioning lens. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canon Powershot), "ACCESS" error (Sony Cybershot), "Zoom Error" (Fuji Finepix), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak Easyshare), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (Nikon Coolpix and some other camera makers lately are using this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move. The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). Once these materials work their way into the lens mechanism, that's all she wrote. I have many Canon's, and NEVER use a case for this very reason. Note that this problem applies to ALL cameras with telescopic lens barrel (optical) zoom. With Samsung's release of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, I'm really curious to see if this will also be a issue/problem w
