problem. Your help in sharing will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera, a stuck lens, jammed lens, or a malfunctioning lens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6TkTLibaJg Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canon Powershot), "ACCESS" error (Sony Cybershot), "Zoom Error" (Fuji Finepix), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak Easyshare), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (Nikon Coolpix and some other camera makers lately are using this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move. The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). Once these materials work their way into the lens mechanism, that's all she wrote. I have many Canon's, and NEVER use a case for this very reason. Note that this problem applies to ALL cameras with telescopic lens barrel (optical) zoom. With Samsung's release of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, I'm really curious to see if this will also be a issue/problem with this camera phone (and other phones with optical zoom). I predict (on June 16, 2013) that it will, as most people ca
the Camera". In the hospital, I could not concentrate or do any trial n error on the camera.Back home now... I did the following and it workedRemoved the battery, recharged the same. Inserted the http://spinweb.blogspot.com/2008/03/cannon-sd1000-lens-error-restart-camera.html charged batter and very gently moved lens sideways couple of times. The lens immediately went in and I restarted the camera. Everything is back to normal.I have clicked some more photos and it is working fine. Not sure if this will work for everyone....no harm in sharing some tip Posted by arvind kumar sambaraj at 8:43:00 PM Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: Tips n Tricks 4 comments: John Lessnau said... Before lens error considering this camera do a google search on: Canon sd1000 lens error19,500 resultsHere's my story:After 3 months I got the dreaded Cannon SD1000 lens error. We took pictures of a beach and unfortunately left the picture card in the camera when sending it under warranty. This gave Canon the "sand in camera" excuse.A few days after sending it in for warranty repair, I got an email from canon saying the camera had sand in canon sd1000 lens the battery compartment and they would not cover it under warranty. They said the camera was full of sand and wanted $98 to fix it (best buy is selling it new for $150). Before sending it in I read about this problem and used compressed air in the battery compartment and around the lens to make sure it was 100% clean, so I know there was no sand in the battery compartment. We only took some beach shots and did not drop the camera in the sand or anything like that. The service tech I spoke to said the notes said sand poured out of the battery compartment. I know for a fact that the battery compartment was clean. He said he did not know that the lens error issue was a very common problem with this camera (yeah right)I asked them to send it back unrepaired. I will never buy a Cannon product again. Do not buy the Canon Power Shot SD1000 as it has a major flaw and they do not want to cover their warranty obligations. Sat May 03, 11:50:00 AM Anonymous said... I own many PowerShot's and I've had this issue on two of them now. There's a company that specializes in these and their prices are amazing, their service is beyond anything I've experienced anywher
