About a week ago, I went on a trip, took pictures the whole trip, everything was ok. When I got home, and tried to turn the camera to move the pictures to my PC, I got an error: "Lens http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/11755/what-should-i-do-about-canon-powershot-lens-error-restart-camera error, restart camera" The lens doesn't even start to open, doesn't make any sounds of trying even. If you don't have a card reader in your computer(s), they are available inexpensively, for example: amazon.com/Mini-Memory-Card-Reader-Writer/dp/B000FNDWLQ/… –coneslayer May 6 '11 at 13:54 2 I got this issue with my camera too, when my son dropped it in the sand. The lens mechanism retraction is very fragile. One grain of sand is enough to break the camera. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. I have written a bl

Answer this question I have this problem too Subscribed to new answers Is this a good question? Yes No Voted Undo Score 8 Cancel Comments: I'm also experiencing this error message, however... • the camera turns on, • the lens extends outwards, • the lens contracts inwards, • the camera turns off... I did notice the superficial disfigurement that is on the outer shell of the lens, but this shouldn't cause this error as on occasions, the camera turns on, the lens extends outwards, and I can snap a few pictures, unless I aim the camera in any direction other than straight ahead - if not straight ahead, the lens contracts inwards & camera turns off. 12/10/2015 by Frae Guile Add a comment 0/1024 Cancel Post comment Are you sure you want to delete this zzzzzz?
