Introduction Sometimes the gears in lens of the Casio Exilim EX-Z70 get clogged with sand, dirt, or debris and no longer function. Without these gears the lens can not retract or extend from the camera and will appear stuck. This guide will help you access the lens gears for cleaning. Step 1 Camera Casing Edit Remove the strap from canon lens error the camera by pulling the thin cord out, creating a small loop, then pushing the thicker cord back through this loop. Add a comment Add a comment Add Comment 1024 Step 2 Edit Remove the two phillips screws (2.83 mm) from the left side panel of the camera casing. The left panel can now be removed. However, one piece of tape attaches it to the camera, so a spudger may be required to ease the panels off. Repeat for the right side panel of the camera. Keep track of which screws go where. There are a couple sets of screws to take out and they are all small and look the same. Repeat for the 2 phillips screws (2.79 mm) right side of the camera. If the lens extends but you hear a high pitched buzzing noise, it is the focus motor that is the gears are out or your have debris it it. I would start by reading these tips and see what you get. It can be fixed. Usually w/o any parts. Casio Exilim lens error cameras don't really have good dust/debris protection, and the focus motor gears are easy to get jammed up. I buy these on eBay all the time, and fix them. They also get knocked out of alignment easily if dropped. I like it because it really is one of the smallest (thinnest) cameras out there. With any pocketable camera, there is risk of hitting the power button while in your pocket.
