Apparently the Casio Exilim is more sensitive to power than other digital cameras. Fully charged batteries that work fine in other cameras, seem to give the Casio problems. I experienced these problems both on my Casio Exilim EX-S8 and my Casio Exilim EX-S5. Categorie Zo-doe-je-dat en stijl Licentie Standaard YouTube-licentie Meer weergeven Minder weergeven Laden... forum Z750 Lens Error: Some Conclusions Started May 30, 2005 | Discussions thread Shop cameras & lenses ▾ ForumParentFirstPreviousNextFlat view Greg Arnold • Junior Member • Posts: 35 Z750 Lens Error: Some Conclusions May 30, 2005 Sorry for yet another https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/13684027 "Lens Error" thread. But after monitoring these issues for a while, I have http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?11001-Casio-Z750-Lens-Error-Problem come to some conclusions:CONCLUSION #1Nearly all of the lens errors reported in this forum were caused by accidental power-on. The lens error occurs when the lens is blocked on power-on, such as when the camera is in a case or pocket. For most people, the accidental power-on produces one or lens error two errors on subsequent startups, then the problem goes away.It is my belief that SOME accidental power-ons cause permanent damage to the lens.http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8228CONCLUSION #2Accidental power-ons are caused by two design flaws in the Z750:1. By default, pressing the Review or Record button causes the camera to turn on. In other words, the Z750 has THREE power buttons! For some, this might be casio exilim lens a handy feature because you can power-up directly into Review mode. To me it seems dangerous. This behavior can be disabled in the Z750's Setup menu and is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CUSTOMIZATION!2. The main power button is not recessed. In other words, the power button sticks out on the top of the camera. Other compact cameras I have owned have had recessed power buttons, where the top of the button is flush with the body of the camera. To power-up, you must depress the button with the tip of your finger.Due to these flaws, the power can be easily AND accidentally turned on while in a pocket or case, thereby causing lens error problems.CONCLUSION #3If you recall, I ran into the lens error problem with my camera almost immediately out of the box. After further playing with my damaged camera, I found the lens error to be intermittent. Sometimes it occurs when I zoom to about 80%. My camera also has some auto-focusing problems, most likely related to the damaged lens.Comparisons of serial numbers and manufacturing locations (Japan vs China) have provided no further information. Other forums are talking about this (dpreview.com in Casio Talk) and it concerns me. I have been comparing the Z750 with the Canon SD500 and need to make a decision. I have the z750: Droped on pavement 3 times. Opened in case once Opened in pocket once. Lens error: once (when opened in case). Turned it off/on and it went away. Chose the z750 ove the SD500 because of the mpeg4 movie mode. 08-17-2005,04:39 PM #3 juliezim View Profile View Forum Posts Junior Member Join Date Apr 2005 Posts 18 Casio lens prob bought my Casio x750 in June, took it to Ireland, Cape Cod, a wedding, no problems with the lens error thing - I am careful of opening it unobstructed - I chose it over the Cannon SD series because I read about the screen crack purple blob problem with SD - my friend got the SD and went to Ireland with me - no prob. so far. But I'd be more careful with that LCD. And it is smaller. My LCD is bigger (nice!) and I got a little clear plastic cover to paste over it - I carry it in a pocket in a purse without a case, something frowned on by the sales rep for Cannon (they don't stand behind cracked screens) - the cases make these cameras too bulky for your pocket, which is the point of getting a small camera after all - the SD is a tiny bit smaller, the pictures are good on both - although mine are over s
