It is possible that you get the lens error because your lens is of the track or otherwise stuck. Take a look at this site. It does give a f solution that yo could try first. How can I take it apart? I bought this camera back in the summer of 2006 and I hardly used it. It worked great. It sat on a shelf in a cupboard for 2 years. Last night I charged the battery, and today I go to turn it on, and what do I get? I hear gears turning but the lens won't open and I get lens error on the lcd! Last night I charged the battery, and today I go to turn it on, and what do I get? I hear gears turning but the lens won't open and I get lens error on the lcd! What the hell??!! It never had a chance to break sitting in storage, how does this happen?! Did I buy a 400 dollar hunk of junk?! Anyway, I can't afford a new camera, or the expense of getting it repaired right now. I figure I have nothing to lose in trying to take it apart and see if I can't realign the gears or something. I got all the screws out I could find and I can't seem to get the front or the back side of the camera to come apart. Is there a safety catch or some special tool I need to get this apart? I know it's ill advised to take it apart, but like I said, I have nothing to lo
