will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera, a stuck lens, jammed lens, or a malfunctioning lens. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canon Powershot), "ACCESS" error (Sony Cybershot), lens error nikon coolpix s6800 "Zoom Error" (Fuji Finepix), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak Easyshare), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (Nikon Coolpix and some other camera makers lately are using this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move. The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft

Dec 7, 2011 I dropped my Coolpix S10 and there http://www.ebay.com/gds/How-to-Fix-a-Nikon-Coolpix-S220-Lens-Error-/10000000205245263/g.html was a 'lens error' message. I brought it to the Nikon service centre in Singapore and was told that the lens had to be changed. Estimated cost is $270 plus. I bought the camera in March 2007 for $599 and it would be more worthwhile to buy a new camera than to repair lens error it.However I was disssatisfied with the initial diagnosis and recommendation of repair. This is about the second or third time I dropped the camera and it was repaired previously. I could not recall the amount nor did I kept the repair invoices, but I knew it was not that expensive (otherwise I would not have gone ahead to repair it) not did I remember that repairing it lens error nikon means changing the lens.I requested for a second opinion from another technician. In the end, the customer service officer said they will open the camera to diagnose (no charge) and will call me to give an estimate of the repair.I went home and search the internet and found many advice on fixing lens error. This is one example: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.htmlI am wondering if the service centre technician took the easy way out and recommended changing the lens, without even trying to fix it first. The technician saves time and bother, and the centre makes a sale of a replacement lens. (Any conflict of interest?) Share March 13, 2016 A lens error message on a Nikon Coolpix S220 can unfortunately be fairly common. This kind of error message is sometimes accompanied by a beeping sound as the lens attempts to come out or retract, or in some cases the lens might fail to move or the camera shuts down completely. This problem, however, is not unique to Nikon Coolpix S220 cameras only, but rather is a pretty common problem in other digital cameras as well. Causes of Lens Error Messages There are several problems that can trigger an error lens message in a Nikon Coolpix S220. These include: The camera is dropped with its lens extended The camera's battery gets drained with the lens extended Presence of dirt particles such as sand or grit somewhere along the lens' extension mechanism Dirt accumulation at the bottom of the camera case Luckily for Nikon Coolpix owners, it not hard to rectify a lens error message. Most of the fixes are quite easy, though others are a little bit more extensive and can void the warranty on the Coolpix. In such cases, it's better to perform the more extensive procedures on cameras whose warranty period has expired, while bearing in mind that this warranty does not extend to problems caused by dirt or damage from impact. How to Fix the Error Message the Easy Way The following methods are good places to begin when fixing the camera. If the problem has been caused by flat batteries, remove the batteries then wait for a few minutes. Now put a fresh set of NiMH 2500mah batteries then turn the camera on. If this fails to work, press and hol
