If you don't have a card reader in your computer(s), they are available inexpensively, for example: amazon.com/Mini-Memory-Card-Reader-Writer/dp/B000FNDWLQ/… –coneslayer May 6 '11 at 13:54 2 I got this issue with my camera too, when my son dropped it in the sand. The lens mechanism retraction is very fragile. One grain of sand is enough to break the camera. In our case, we got the camera for less than a week, so we returned the camera for an exchange. –decasteljau May 6 '11 at 14:01 add a comment| 9 Answers 9 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Lens errors are fairly common. There are 3fuses on the logic board (check image) check those for continuity first. FU601 and FU602 are UNHS206 and FU603 is a UNHS203. If those fuses are okay, check the optical flex cable for any burned or missing components. The last thing to do would be to replace the lens itself. Hope this helps, good luck. They are trying to get out of actually fixing the situation by forcing an out of warranty repair. I barely used this camera so I know that the rust and corrosion is not something I caused. Dirt can get into the gears or the lens can become misaligned from being carried in pockets, purses or at the beach. With newer cameras I am usually hesitant to suggest these options since they include some more extreme procedures that may cause further damage if not done correctly, but they may save you an expensive repair bill.
