Caguth Jan 11, 2008 We have the same problem with our Coolpix L11...Went to change battery when battery was low and lens would not go in, replaced batter and lens appeared stuck, this also happen several days after buying it, I gently pushed lens in and it was fine up until now...I have tried to push lens in and now lens cover came off...I actually shipped camera to NIKON for repairs however, they want $96.00 to repair a $149.00 4 month old camera...Doesn't make sense...However, I will try and get it unstuck myself, any suggestions...Nikon claims it's damage, but the camera was not dropped so they won't repair under warranty.. I have never had a NIKON before, and won't buy one again...I purchased Fugi Fine Pix and Cannon and never had a problem... Uploaded on Feb 2, 2008See my other vids on the subject.I made my third call to Nikon support this week to get some kind of resolution on the factory http://www.fixya.com/support/t225788-fix_stuck_lens_nikon_coolpix_l11 produced defective L11 coolpix camera. It is my last call to them for the issue. Their support told me the following.1. If you want to make movies then buy a movie camera. 2. Sell it on eBay and try to recover some of your costs.3. Buy our more expensive model.4. You are stuck with it. My thoughts to their comments. 1. The coolpix is a "movie" camera but a very poor one at that. If you make cameras with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW-3UDmeeL4 movie mode, make sure it works in preproduction first. Don't promote or charge more for the movie feature on it unless it works. How about producing defective cameras but under another name like Nikkonie so you don't hurt the good Nikon name? 2. Sell it on eBay? So I get a negative feedback rating from the buyer I'm sticking it to and then they file a paypal claim and stop payment because I sold them a flawed camera. Giving someone else the shaft is not an option for me. How about Nikon gives me my money back, I send them the camera and they can then sell the camera on eBay to recoup some of their losses? 3. Buy the more expensive model? What if that more expensive model is flawed also? Sell that one on eBay too? Consumers shouldn't have to upgrade to Nikon's more expensive models since all of Nikon's products should work properly in the first place. 4. "You are stuck with it". Although I praise Nikon's phone support staff, their answers weren't always the best. Their phone support staff has their hands tied on this matter because the corporate office has decided that "You get what you pay for". Oddly, I didn't get what I paid for at all.The audio that you hear on this video clip is what the brand new Coolpix L11 camera produces internally when maki

Your help in sharing will be appreciated, and karma will prevail! This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera, a stuck lens, jammed lens, or a malfunctioning lens. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD's of lens error cameras with this problem include "E18 lens error" (older Canon Powershot), "ACCESS" error (Sony Cybershot), "Zoom Error" (Fuji Finepix), "Lens Obstructed" (Kodak Easyshare), "lens error, restart camera" or just "lens error" (Nikon Coolpix and some other camera makers lately are using this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won't even move. The problem lens error coolpix is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc... accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). Once these materials work their way into the lens mechanism, that's all she wrote. I have many Canon's, and NEVER use a case for this very reason. Note that this problem applies to ALL cameras with telescopic lens barrel (optical) zoom. With Samsung's release of the Galaxy S4 Zoom, I'm really curious to see if this will also be a issue/problem with this camera phone (and other phones with optical zoom). I predict (on June 16, 2013) that it will, as most people carry their phones in pockets and purses. If it occurs, Fix 5a would likely be the best technique to correct this problem. A camera owner that suffers this problem may have no recourse for having the camer
