I did notice the superficial disfigurement that is on the outer shell of the lens, but this shouldn't cause this error as on occasions, the camera turns on, the lens extends outwards, and I can snap a few pictures, unless I aim the camera in any direction other than straight ahead - if not straight ahead, the lens contracts inwards & camera turns off. 12/10/2015 by Frae Guile Add a comment 0/1024 Cancel Post comment Are you sure you want to delete this zzzzzz? What happens is: I power the camera on The back screen displays a Canon splash screen (bird on a branch) The back screen shows the message "Lens error, restart camera" (no Exx reference) Camera powers off I have tried the various E18 fixes (or some of them anyway), with no success. Is the camera trying to extract the lens? is there any motor noise? Do you hear any noise that sounds strange? 0 LVL 11 Overall: Level 11 Digital Cameras / Camcorders 1 Message Expert Comment by:emilgas2010-05-19 Try to clean the area between the lense rings that extend. Use a compressed air and blow it off. It's probably dirty 0 LVL 4 Overall: Level 4 Digital Cameras / Camcorders 1 Message Expert Comment by:zurb2010-05-19 @emilgas: I don't think that lens is extending anymore... read above. 0 LVL 11 Overall: Level 11 Digital Cameras / Camcorders 1
