TalkChange forum Lens Error- please restart Camera S3 IS Started Oct 27, 2011 | Discussions thread Shop cameras & lenses ▾ ForumParentFirstPreviousNextFlat view COLC • New Member • Posts: 15 Lens Error- please restart Camera S3 IS Oct 27, 2011 my camera has started to display canon powershot s3is lens error the above message.The message keeps repeating each time the camera is turned and then canon powershot s3 is lens stuck switches off, at the same time the Zoom appears to be stuck in extended mode.The manual suggesst switching on and off but it makes no difference, it then suggests a service centre, before I take that probably expensive route I thought maybe someone out there might have a suggestion. That would give you https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/287684/lens+error+restart+camera that error. Check on here for some generic instructions. It is also possible that the DC-DC converter board has failed. There is a fuse on the board that you can check to see if it has continuity. If you have a multimeter we can also check some of the other components. If you don't than the only fix for that is most likely a replacement of the board and/or a lens replacement depending on your findings. Was this answer helpful?
