Share March 13, 2016 A lens error message on a Nikon Coolpix S220 can unfortunately be fairly common. This kind of error message is sometimes accompanied by a beeping sound as the lens attempts to come out or retract, or in some cases the lens might fail to move or the camera shuts down completely. This problem, however, is not unique to Nikon Coolpix S220 cameras only, but rather is a pretty common problem in other digital cameras as well. Wait for a few minutes then put in a fresh set of batteries and replace the memory card, then power on the device. If the problem is being caused by dirt particles lodged around the lens mechanism, blow compressed air around the gaps in the lens barrel. Use a hair drier for this purpose, but take care to use the ''No Heat'' setting. Another alternative to this is to try to suck the dirt out using a vacuum cleaner, though blowing is often more effective than sucking. If the above
