It is possible that you get the lens error because your lens is of the track or otherwise stuck. Take a look at this site. It does give a f solution that yo could try first. Fix#3 did the trick for me for now, my Nikon Coolpix S9100 has started again but I can almost feel the friction in the lens. Surely something is stuck inside the lens barrel.
