Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Tries to adjust focus a couple of times, then the lens retracts fully. After a second (maybe less), the lens extends again - inner barrel moves backwards and forwards a few times, then the lens retracts again - this time, the 'Lens error' message appears. I have switched on/off dozens of times to no avail, always get the 'Lens error' message.HELP!Thanks Submitted: 5 years ago.
