usually reported as E18 error. The problem is common for most cameras with telescopic lens barrel. Other manufacturers might have a different name for the same problem (lens error, access error, zoom error, lens obstructed, focus error...). Some cameras only display a numerical error, such as E18. Due to the common nature of this problem, it seems that Canon has dropped the numerical marking of this error in newer cameras, and is now using the term "lens error". We will explain our procedure for getting rid of the lens error on the example of Canon cameras, however, note that our repair instructions can also be applied to cameras produced by other manufacturers as well. Canon lens error (E18 error) happens when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend or retract. The problem can happen due to a number of reasons: If dirt or sand get into the lens mechanism If a a user dropps his or her camera with the lens extended Another reason is turning on the camera in a situation where the lens cannot extend fully, like, inside the camera case or a p

same problem that I was. If you’re not yet familiar with the E18 error, check out this information on the topic from Wikipedia: The E18 error is an error http://www.e18error.com/ message on Canon digital cameras. The E18 error occurs when anything prevents the zoom lens from properly extending or retracting.[1] The error has become notorious in the Canon user community as it can completely disable the camera, requiring expensive repairs. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E18_error) This is a fairly prevalent problem with the PowerShot cameras, and a class action lawsuit was filed https://blog.wolffmyren.com/2008/10/23/e18-error-fixed-canon-powershot-sd450/ (but dismissed) against Canon: A Chicago law firm, Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates, has already filed a class action,[4] while the law firm of Girard Gibbs & De Bartolomeo LLP are investigating this camera flaw and may issue a class-action lawsuit against Canon.[5] There is at least one other.[6] Although the suit was dismissed in a court of law, the plaintiffs are appealing. When she powers it on, the lens extends, the unit beeps, the CCD does NOT illuminate, and she sees E18 on the ccd screen. The message and the beeps are intermittent. Occasionally, lens error it will power up without any problems and she can take a pic. She's tried fresh batteries, new and freshly charged rechargeable batteries to no avail. From what I can find online, the E18 error message indicates a lens cap or lens extention problem. The unit is less than 2 years old and had only moderate use. She's going on a trip week after next. Any chance a canon lens error repair shop in Austin TX can fix it?Thanks in advance for any help.BobH Reply to thread Reply with quote Complain lcole66 • New Member • Posts: 4 Re: Need Information on E18 Error on PC A75 In reply to BobH aka rabbit • Aug 26, 2005 See this link - I had the same problem - as you can read the problem continues even after it was sent back to Canon.http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=14771658 Reply Reply with quote Complain Forum Threaded view Keyboard shortcuts: FForum MMy threads Latest reviewsFujifilm X-T286%Nikon D340076%Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN | C for Micro Four Thirds84%Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm F1.8G ED88%Olympus E-PL8 First Impressions ReviewSee all reviews » Finished challengesArch-itecture by Nilesh Trivedifrom Random Items - Challenge #30Rocky Mountain Elk by evancjfrom Odds are...Discover more challenges » Most popular camerasFujifilm X-T210.1%Nikon D34002.0%Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV1.6%Canon EOS 5D Mark IV1.5%Nikon D5001.4%Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1001.4%Nikon Coolpix P9001.1%Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 (Lumix DMC-TZ100)1.0%Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III1.0%Fujifilm X100T1.0%Other popular cameras » FeaturesIn-depth testingLatest Camera ReviewsBeyond the studio testsFeature Articles and Videosreal world performanceField Test Videossee how we seeSample Galleriesfield testShooting action with the Nikon D52004Striding ForthCanon EOS 5D Mark IV Review Top t
