of information and help for the Canon lens error. Canon lens error is usually reported as E18 error. The problem is common for most cameras with telescopic lens barrel. Other manufacturers might have a different name for the same problem (lens error, access error, zoom error, lens obstructed, focus error...). Some cameras only display a numerical error, such as E18. Due to the common nature of this problem, it seems that Canon has dropped the numerical marking of this error in newer cameras, and is now using the canon powershot a4000 lens error term "lens error". We will explain our procedure for getting rid of the lens error on the example of Canon cameras, however, note that our repair instructions can also be applied to cameras produced by other manufacturers as well. Canon lens error (E18 error) happens when the lens gets stuck while trying to extend or retract. The problem can happen due to a number of reasons: If dirt or sand get into the lens mechanism If a a user dropps his or her camera with the lens extended Another reason is turning on the camera in a situation where the lens cannot extend fully, like, inside the camera case or a pocket Or if the batteries run out while the camera is being turned on or off. So the batteries run out while the lens is extending or retracting. Older models of Canon camera will beep a few times and the LCD will display a small "E18" sign in the lower-left corner of the display. Some cameras might not beep or show any message, depending on the manufacturer and model. The lens will get stuck in the extended position, and refuse to move either to focus the lens or to retract when powered off. In some cases, the lens might extend or retract to a certain amount, but not fully. Here is what the lens error (E18 error on Canon) looks like. You just get a black screen with small "E18" sign in the lower-left corner: Photo: Canon lens error It seems that more and more people are showing up wh

PowerShot A95 Digital Camera Answers : I found this on cnet.com Hope it helps.\015\012\015\012E18 quick fix\015\012\015\012\015\012I'm sure that every1 looking at this right now would love http://www.lionebra.com/canon_powershot_a95_digital_camera/q3855378-e18_error_message to \015\012be able to do a quick fix for the dreaded E18 error. Well, http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?28882-Powershot-A95-E18-error I have fixed mine \015\012several time in less time that it takes to take a picture. So here it is: This \015\012error occurs when the lens is "stuck" or not extending "straight". The error can \015\012happen in 3 ways: either when the lens wont "come out", or "comes out" and then \015\012retracts, or lens error does not retract at all. Mine did all of these at one stage or \015\012another. 1) If the lens doesn't extend at all or it extends, but then \015\012retracts again, do as follow:Turn the camera off. Place the camera on it's \015\012back with the lens facing up and have a look at the "spacing" between the lens \015\012and the lens housing. You'll probably notice that the gap is canon lens error NOT EVEN all the \015\012way around. To fix this, simply -VERY GENTLY- press down on the side where the \015\012gap is the biggest. You will hear a "click" as it pops back in place. Try \015\012powering it back on.2) If the lens is extended all the time and won't retract at all, do as follow:Turn the camera off. Take the camera in one \015\012hand and with the other gently, in turn, take the two part of the lens and \015\012gently move it round in a circular movement. Do so with both sections of the \015\012lens. You will once again hear a little "click" as it pops back in place. Power \015\012the camera on.This has worked for me many times and it seems to happen when \015\012the camera has been carried around and possible had a little knock. I hope this \015\012is of help to someone else. Repair Help & Product Troubleshooting for Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera Please enable JavaScript to view the comments powered by Disqus. I was using it the other day, to take some movie pics, then an hour later I started getting the E18 error. The camera was not dropped. I formatted the compact flash card with my card reader, I put in new batteries, but nothing removes the E18 error. There seems to be a lot of talk on the web about E18 errors. What I would like to do now, is try the disassembly fix. Before I attempt that, would anyone out there be able to point me to a repair guide for this specific camera, so that I can disassemble proberly?? thanks DaveT 02-16-2007,11:54 AM #2 BowerR64 View Profile View Forum Posts Senior Member Join Date Mar 2006 Posts 2,162 Are you using rechargables? first try those because they have more power then alkalines. Alkalines have good voltage but no power. Rechargables have less voltage but they have the power the camera needs to drive a hung up lens. My camera gear Found on e-bay.
