are useful.Remove the rechargeable main battery and the memory card. You then need to remove the small screws around the casing. These screws are of different lengths and it is important to lay them out in a logical manner so that later you can replace them correctly. Carefully separate the halves of the casing. This reveals canon pc1730 lens error the internal disk-shaped 3-volt battery. You can use as a guide the exploded view of the camera shown athttp://www.huroncamera.com/diagrams/Canon_Digital/POWERSHOT_S400_IXUS_400.pdfThe 3-volt battery is part 3 on page 4 of the exploded view diagrams.Remove this battery, taking care not to touch both faces simultaneously with a metal implement. After about an hour, replace the 3-volt battery.Reassemble the metal case taking care that the sliding switch for the take/review function is correctly located. Replace the main rechargeable battery and the memory card. You will have to reset the time and date data as they are deleted when the 3-volt battery is removed.I have no idea why this procedure apparently cures some of the "Memory Card Error" faults. You do not even need to replace 3-volt battery with a new one. If you have tried every other remedy and the camera is out of warranty, it is worth trying. It worked for my camera.I have read that if you simply remove the main rechargeable battery for 3 week

My camera is showing me this message (Error Memory Card) from time to time. It is then https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/17002696 not functioning. I took it twice to the Canon repair place in Guatemala Ciudad. Each time they tell me "my camera is perfect"… Can anyone tell me what could be the REAL problem, so next time I go there (a very dangerous city), I could tell them EXACTLY what they have to do. Thanks a lot for helping me. jean.pierre.dodge@gmail.com Sponsored Links http://forums.steves-digicams.com/memory-cards-microdrives-card-readers/126846-error-memory-card-canon-powershot-s400.html Aug 3, 2007, 5:06 PM #2 TCav Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Washington, DC, Metro Area, Maryland Posts: 13,394 Off the top of my head, I'd say that you probably haven't removed and inserted the flash memory card. That can cause oxidation to accumulate around the contacts on the card and in the camera. This is especially true in humid environments. I don't think there's anything wrong with the camera. I think you need to remove and re-insert the card. You may want to clean the SD card contacts with a pencil eraser, but this probably isn't necessary. It should be a menu item. If the card has been in the camera since you bought it TCav could be right. Equipped with 5.0 Mega pixel CCD image sensor, this digital camera is capable of capturing exceptional quality images. The digital camera uses Secure Digital canon lens error (SD) or MultiMedia card (MMC) memory card as its storage device. In such cases, you need to use a valid and updated backup to restore your data completely. However, if the backup is not available or it itself gets corrupted, then you will need to use an effective Image Recovery Software to recover your lost data completely. Many, many, many of these cameras fail with a 'memory card error' that has nothing to do with the memory card. A Google search shows many posts from people that have had this problem. In the past Canon maintained that this was a user problem and out of warranty cameras would be repaired after a $150 fee. Three years ago after I filed a BBB complaint I received communication from Canon that they would fix it for free. Recently my camera failed again and I just discovered that the company has posted a Service Notice on their website to repair the camera at no charge. They even provide free shipping to pay to send the camera in. I just got my camera back - it was a 'new' refurb unit. Detail of the program below.-------------------------------------------------A CF Card communication problem has occurred in some PowerShot S400 Digital Cameras. We would like to convey the details and our service policy. When communication problems with CF cards occur in this product, the following messages are displayed during use:"Memory Card Error" "Corrupted Data" "Unidentified Image" "E50" "E51" The display of such a message, however, does not necessarily indicate the existence of the CF Card communication problem that has been identified. If it is determined by Canon USA that your PowerShot S400 camera is exhibiting the CF Card communication problem that has been identified, the camera will be repaired free of charge, regardless of whether the camera is still under warranty. In addition, a refund of a previously paid repair will be made if it is determined by Canon USA that the repair of your PowerShot S400 was prompted by the CF Card communication problem that has been identified.
