What version of Mac OS X do you have? On 10.6 and 10.7 the certificate of the authority that signed "imap.gmail.com" gmail pop settings is included in the "System Roots" keychain by default, so it should work "out of the box" (and it works so for me). Note that there is no entry in "System Root" for gmail, nor can a certificate be copied to "System Root" --- a dialog states that it cannot be modified.Nontheless, copying into System seems to have worked, and I am not seeing the notifications any more, at least for now.I have attached my System Log file in zip format for your review --- remove the extra "log" extension to unzip. Thanks for your help. This discussion is locked xaximedes Level 1 (0 points) Q: Mail can't verify the identity of "imap.gmail.com" I'm having problems with Mail and a Gmail IMAP account that's worked great until recently. I started receiving the following pop-up when starting Mail:+Mail can't verify the identity of "imap.gmail.com".++The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to server that is pretending to be "imap.gmail.com" which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway?+I've tried deleting any keychain entries that mention Gmail. I also tried logging into Gmail and https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=91097.0 disabling, then re-enabling IMAP. Also checked that correct server listed in Mail prefs. Also re-entered password in prefs. Tried it with no password saved, too. to take VIC with me on my laptop. My email provider has changed their security so that they only accept connections from the range of IP addresses that they serve. How do I work around this? Simple: set up a Gmail account (if you need an invitation, contact me). Now, you can continue to use your existing email address for your incoming (pop3) mail or you can use the gmail address. For outgoing mail, though, use Gmail's SMTP server. Simple in theory and in fact; however, there aren't any instructions on the Gmail site to tell you how to do this. They tell you how to configure just about everything there is except Notes. Here's how to set it up in Notes 6.5:1. Go to your Personal Address book, then from the menu select View, then Advanced, then Accounts.2. Edit your Outgoing Internet Mail document. It's the one where the protocol is SMTP.3. On the Basics tab, use the following settings:Account name: Anything you like. Mine is "Outgoing Internet Mail"Account server name: smtp.gmail.comLogin name: yourAccountName@gmail.comPassword: your Gmail passwordProtocol: SMTPSSL: EnabledOnly from location(s): Anything you like. I've enabled mine for * (all locations)4. On the Advanced tab, use the following settings:Port number: 465Accept SSL site certificates: Yes Accept expired SSL certificate: YesSend SSL certificates when asked: NoVerify account server name with remote server's certificate: DisabledSSL protocol version: Version 3.0 with 2.0 handshakeNow, you shouldn't have to change your incoming mail server unless you just want to use the Gmail account. Then again, you may want to set up a second account for Gmail so you can pull it into one location (I do it the other way 'round and tell Gmail to forward all of my mail to my normal account). For completeness, here's how to set up POP access (for incoming mail) to the Gmail server:1. Go to your Personal Address book, then from the menu select View, then Advanced, then Accounts.2.
