The Access database is shared by several users and I use this to match up each computer user with a set of records that are theirs. When I cam in this morning I was told there was an issue and this error is shown: undefined function "[environ$]' in expression. This database usually sits in a shared folder on a microsoft server 2003 sbs. Can anyone help me solve this issue? Cameron Tuesday, August 02, 2011 6:48 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote I have solved the problem. There was a new pc installed and all the access 2003 updates were completed on it. Under Tools | Macro | Security, the settings for macro's was set to medium which apprently disables or somehow removes the Environ function or ability of the Environ function to run inany database thatis opened by that computer. I set the macroto low and it no longer screws up my database's. I would like to knowif there is a way tore-enable what ever is being disabled or removed to stop the Environ function from running, but at least I have solver the issue. Thanks for the help. These functions set the default value to the user and date time when a record is entered. Apparently Microsoft ACCESS 2010 does not allow functions to be used as field default values anymore. Is there something simple (setting) I may be missing? I understand the arguments for passing in these values directly from code and that the environ function can be manipulated. The processes that use this code are not critical enough to warrant that concern. When I copy and execute my application to another machine (not all machines) I am getting the error "Undefined function Environ() in expression". The environ functionality works on my ms access environ machine consistantly. It's hit of miss on others. The one funny thing about this environ() functionality is that is works on all machines on insert, but then you try to select the same line you just inserted you get the "Undefined function Environ ... The environ("username") function is in an Access query as criteria. ie: ww_user = environ("username"). I then take that Access query and call it from a combo box rowsource in a form. I have checked my Visual Basic References and have no MISSING or BROKEN references. I even checked the references via code. These are my present references in this order: Visual Basic for Applications Microsoft Access 9.0 Object Library OLE Automation Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.1 Library Thanks in advance, Gerry (gone crazy) Reply With Quote 08-13-03,02:14 #2 Strucnjak View Profile View Forum Posts Registered User Join Date Aug 2003 Location Bosnia & Hercegovina Posts 57 check references on target computers.... try requerying after insert and befor environ()..... All the essential references from Chip Pearson's page were present, but there was a missing reference to Microsoft Calendar Control 11.0. Restoring this reference (copying the file from a colleague - maybe not the ideal solution) fixed the problem.
