To generate the above string with the proper quotes, you can use a statement like this: FLTR = "Tbox_number =" & """" & strToolBoxNumber & """" & "AND ID=" & lngNumericID strToolBoxNumber is a string variable containing the proper value and lngNumericID is the ID number you want to use in the filter. I found another solution that took me 1 minute to fix.... I came accross a website that said that the error is actually mis-named! It should say "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" instead of "you canceled the previous operation". That was exactly my problem! No corrupted database, thank God! Just thought you'd like to know.. Reply With Quote 01-29-03,22:25 #2 Bruce Wilson View Profile View Forum Posts Registered User Join Date Jan 2003 Posts 1 Dead on right Got the message.
