Microsoft Office for Developers > Access for Developers Question 0 Sign in to vote I'm in Access, I open a spreadsheet to get the sheet names from it to populate a list box. then I close all the Excel automation objects I opened. Then I clicked on the name I wanted, and opened the spreadsheet to figure out how many populated columns it had. Then I closed all the Excel objects again. Then I try to do: DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet, giving it the parameters from before, i.e. file name and sheet name, and it gives me the error in the subject line. To me, that seems to be an error for a linked spreadsheet as table. Any ideas as to why I keep getting this? Here is the code for opening and reading the spreadsheet after I select its name from the list box: Private Sub lstWorksheets_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) Dim Numqueries As Integer Dim sel As Integer Dim qry As DAO.QueryDef Dim sheetname As String sel = lstWorksheets.ItemsSelected.Item(0) + 1 Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application") Set myWkBk = xlApp.Workbooks.Open(FileName:=filenm) Set mySheet = myWkBk.Worksheets(sel) sheetname = myWkBk.Worksheets.Item(sel).Name 'check to find the rightmost non-blank column. can't just check first cell or two. Need to make sure. For a = 55 To 24 For b = 1 To 70 If mySheet.Cells(b, a) <> Empty Then colcount = a Exit For End If Next Next 'check to see how many queries are needed Numqueries = (
2007. Guest Guest Summary: I am attempting to write an access 2003 (11.5614.5606) routine to automate importing multiple excel workbooks (25+) each contianing multiple worksheets (280+) into a single table in access. Each worksheet has the same columns and headings. I can create a link to each table or import each table into a single access file, but if I try to get access to process through the entire directory appending records I get an error. I used https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/b0472bab-8627-4739-89ca-6c324b981726/transferspreadsheet-runtime-error-3620-the-connection-for-viewing-your-linked-microsoft-excel?forum=accessdev the windows API file browse dialog in some of the other examples to select the directory containing the workbooks. Currently this code processes part of the workbooks then crashes with an Error 3620 - The connection for viewing your linked Microsoft Excel worksheet was lost.
