Error, text box can not find reference I created a text box with a function for the control source =[Location]*2 #error access where [Location] is a field on the same form (right beside this text box). I get this error in the text box #Name? I know this field exists, it's right beside the text box. Funny thing is it worked yesterday. Any ideas? Did I hit a switch or an option that disable functions??? Last edited by GT_engineer; 11-27-2012 at 05:48 AM.

It's quick & easy. #Name? error message in Access Form P: 3 jkriner #Name? error message in Access Form -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello I have created a #name error in excel 2010 simple database with 4 tables (all the same fields in each table). I then created a form #type access and copied it 3 times (renaming the forms according to the table names). I changed the recource source in each form to reflect the corresponding table

but now in some of the fields (in the copied forms) I am getting a #Name? message in a couple of the fields. Any help would be great... thanks :) Jul 26 '07 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 4 Replies Expert http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=237483 Mod 10K+ P: 12,110 Rabbit It probably means your field names from your record source don't match up with the control source property of the controls on the form. Jul 26 '07 #2 reply P: 3 jkriner ok, I just copied the original form (ie. table09 goes with form09 and then I copied form09 3 times and renamed them form10, form 11, form12...there is data in each of the tables (table 9, table10, table11, table12) that shows up in the corresponding forms, but how https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/683767-name-error-message-access-form do I get the fields to match up? I am somewhat clueless (as you can tell) when creating anything in access and that is why I copied the form three times so I wouldn't have to redesign it each time) thanks so much Jul 26 '07 #3 reply Expert 100+ P: 1,206 JKing First I suggest checking the record source for each form. Open up the form properties and make sure you have the right table set for each form. For example Form9 should be set as table9, form10 set as table10. Once this is done open the properties for any textboxes that are giving you a #name error. There is drop down for the control source property. Select the proper field name from the list. This should get rid of any errors you have. Jul 26 '07 #4 reply Expert Mod 10K+ P: 12,110 Rabbit If the tables have different field names, then the controls on the form that reference those field names will be wrong because they're using the field names from the original form. You have to change the control source property of the control to reflect the field names in the table. Error in ms access MS Access Started by sunny441 , Jun 24 2010 07:48 PM Please log in to reply #1 sunny441 Posted 24 June 2010 - 07:48 PM sunny441 Member Member 258 posts Hello guys! Been a long time since I posted on here! I am working on a project using MS Access. As the topic says - I am having problems with retrieving data from a table and displaying. The one table has the ms access name component information like manufacture name, size and other things. The other table has some information pertaining to Temperature (mostly numbers here). On this 2nd table there are some fields that have no value and have been set to "---" by the previous db guy. All the fields are set to TEXT value. Now on the final front end - which displays information, the information from the first table shows up just fine. All the temperatures and info from the 2nd table show up as #NAME? Error. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I have the table sources set to the right values (like =[temp rear]). I also tried changing the field from TEXT to NUmber. But that did not help. The relationship is correct and the keys are correct. I am at my wits end! Please help!! If so, did the data display correctly until now or did something change that caused these issues? The #NAME error is letting us know (not always clearly), that someth

I basically just create a text field in a report, use the build tool to find the relevant field from a subreport/query, and then set it. I know the path is right for the control source because I am not typing it myself, I am selecting it. The field I am referencing still exists and is actually located where the controlsource is pointing. But for some reason, I get this error. It doesn't make sense. Can anyone please help? ms-access ms-access-2007 share|improve this question asked Jul 5 '11 at 19:24 jerry 89022251 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted Try naming the control differently from source name. For example, if you have field in the source called "Name", give the control name "Name_Textbox". Just to make sure you have two different names (source vs. control). I think I had these problems in previous versions of MS Access (e.g. 2003). share|improve this answer answered Jul 10 '11 at 6:34 Igor Turman 1,85511322 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I've seen that error (long time ago) and managed to fix it, IIRC, by wrapping the fully qualified name in brackets, e.g. [source table].[column name]. Something to try at any rate. share|improve this answer answered Jul 5 '11 at 19:28 Tim 3,8471860113 Yeah, I tried
