zero by zero, the result comes up as #Error. Is there a way I can tell Access, if dividing by zero, the result is zero? Answer: You can use the iif function in your Access query to handle these cases. We'll demonstrate how to do this with the example below. In this example, we've used the iif function to return 0 if the [Quantity] is 0. Otherwise, it would return the value of [Price] divided by [Quantity]. This is achieved with the following formula: IIf([Quantity]=0,0,[Price]/[Quantity]) Now, your Access query should no longer return an error when a [Quantity] of 0 is encountered. Is there an easy work around this error? Maybe an iif statement? Thanks Corey #2 (permalink) September 28th, 2005, 06:03 AM SteveH Registered User Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: , , . If you try to use the function, it will generate an #Error as well. To resolve this issue I created a function. Here's the code: Function DivideByZero(Numerator As Double, Denominator As Double) As Double Dim dblResults As Double If Numerator = 0 Or Denominator = 0 Then dblResults = 0 Else dblResults = Numerator / Denominator End If DivideByZero = dblResults End Function The statement will return the value of zero if either input is zero. #3 (permalink) September 28th, 2005, 11:11 AM Corey Friend of Wrox Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: , , USA.
