I'm simply trying to access #error in textbox sum a column in a query. The query is also used for a list control on that same form, and I'm displaying the column I want to sum, so I know that the query is working and correctly finding the values. But the sum yields "#error." Here's what I've done so far to try to sort the issue: - I've confirmed that the text control doesn't have a name that collides with anything else - I've used "nz":

the express is sum(nz([field name])) - I've let the expression builder fill in the fields to minimize the chance of typos; I've re-entered this many many times now, to no avail. - The underlying table field size is "single"; I've looked at the query and control, and there doesn't seem to be any related property that would clash with that - Just to make sure the null value wasn't an issue (despite using "nz"), I put a hard value in for debug purposes; still #error - I created a completely separate dummy table that has nothing to do with anything in the actual application. I had simple integer rows with no null values. I pointed the control at that instead; still #error. - I created a separate query to sum the column. The query itself works and yields a valid sum. But if I try to bind that value to the text box, the text box shows #error. I even tried to create a VBA function figuring that I could do this in code and just pull the result. But using the formula DSum("nz([Amount])", "The Query") and running it ends up with a runtime error "Invalid use of Null". (As does DSum(nz("[Amount]"), "The Query"), which I think is wrong based on examples I saw online.) I can't seem to win on this one. It should be so simple. I have read that

In a nutshell... I have a table consisting of 4 records, each record having a £ value. When i run the report, in the footer, i want each record's value to be added up, thus giving me a total. The value field is called "Value". I have tried using: =Sum([Value]) and =Sum(Nz([Value])) in an unbound textbox http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=203250 in the footer, however i recieve an "#error" everytime i run the report. i have NO idea why this isn't working, and wondered if one of you kind people could shed light on it for me? Have attached the db for your persual Thanks in advance! Also do not use words suh as Value as this is an Access reserved word. __________________ David Crake To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
