A Portion of the path exceeds the length allowed by the system msi error Hi there, I created a dialog inspired from “Destination folder” with a "Change..." button. (see the first screen shot in the attached file). When I click on "Change..." all is OK, a directory combo list and a directory list are displayed enabling me to navigate and select a folder. (see the second screen shot in the attached file) When I click OK to validate my selection, I systematically get a message box displaying this error: “Error 1322. A Portion of the path exceeds error 1322 msi the length allowed by the system” When I validate this error message box, the new folder is well taken into account and all goes fine. How can I avoid this error message? It occurs independently of the length of the name of the folder I select. I've tried to initialize the property _BrowseProperty used to host the directory name with up to a 2048 long string with no results. Searching on the web I found: ERRDOC: Windows Installer Error 1322 Document ID: Q107068 But I double-checked my Directory table and it is 100% OK, so this is not the reason of the error. Thanks in advance for your help! I was adding short file paths to the directory table short|long but I had accidently left a : where my dest and source names where different. So it can also be caused by bad syntax in an entry in my directory table, not necessarily to do with the length. In my case the description was bobbins and misleading. Finally found what if was. in the "InstallChangeFolder" dialog called by the "Change..." button, in the behavior of the "OK" button, I removed the line "SetTargetPath" and the error disappeared. (see screen copy). Hope t
