network share from which you are running Setup is more than 12 characters in length (13 characters or more). See MS KB294978 for details. This error has been reported to occur as a result of other running programs msi error code 1620 (such as anti-virus software). Close any running programs before the installation and try again. This can also occur if the locally cached Windows Installer package (*.msi) file is damaged or corrupted. If this is the case try the following steps to remove the locally cached installation: 1) Open the \Windows\Installer folder on your computer's hard disk. 2) Right-click any file with an .msi extension. 3) Click Properties on the shortcut menu. The Subject box on the Summary tab msi error codes contains the name of the product that installed the .msi file. 4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each .msi file in the \Installer folder, and delete the .msi file for the version of the application you are trying to install. This saves a lot of time. Someone had changed the name of folder which invalidated the share properties and made the install package unable to be accessed. 1620 Leave a reply Today I tried to install the Quickbooks Premium 2012 edition on one of the machines, but got a "msi installation error 1620" with the following error message: …"This installation package http://lichao.net/eblog/resolved-quickbooks-2012-msi-install-error-1620-201206772.html could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."… First thing I tried was to re-install the Windows Installer, but I still got the same https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?144890-error-1620 error message. According to the Quickbooks support site, it seemed the installation file I had for Quickbooks was damaged. To resolve this issue, try the following steps to install QuickBooks: Insert the QuickBooks CD and close the Autorun if/ when msi error it begins. From the Start menu, select My Computer or Computer. Right-click on the CD-ROM that holds the CD and click Open. Find the QBooks folder and double-click to open. Find the file QuickBooks.msi (QuickBooks Windows Installer Package) and double-click to begin installation. Follow the prompts to install QuickBooks/Enterprise software. If the above steps did not resolve the issue continue with the following step. If the same version of QuickBooks was installed successfully at another workstation, copy the PConfigfolder from that computer to the msi error code one receiving the error. On the workstation with the success install, navigate to the Components folder of an existing QuickBooks installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2012). Copy the PConfig folder to a shared location, flash drive, or external hard drive. On the computer with the error, open the PConfig folder and then double-click the fileQuickBooks.MSI to start the installation. If you have internet access, you may download the QuickBooks installation files: Click Links to download QuickBooks products from the Internet to access the list of QuickBooks products available for download. From within this page, select the link that matches your QuickBooks product and version. This will take you to the Download for QuickBooks website. Read the requirements for the download. These requirements must be met to ensure a successful download. Click Download. The page that follows will provide a list of instructions to follow to download the installation files. Once the Program has been downloaded, double click on the Installation file to start the installation. The installation will begin without the error message. You will use the license and product number from your QuickBooks product package. If you do not have internet access, you may contact QuickBooks, using the number on the product packaging for a replacement CD. Tags: Quickbooks This entry was posted in Software Apps and t
