Mar 5, 2010 I've recently joined the ranks of Nikon fee error nikon DSLR owners by purchasing a used Nikon D80 with a Nikon DX lens = AF-S Nikkor nikon d90 f error 18-135 zoom. I'm reasonably proficient at using the camera.I'm basically a point and shoot user... keeping it in auto-mode most of the time. My biggest nikon d90 fee error 50mm use is taking business photos to use for bidding and documentation in my construction business.HERE IS MY NEED => Frequently I'll be on a job trying to take a photo and the camera will not take the photo. In looking nikon err message at the data window, instead of findingthe F-stop # indicated, it is blinking "F - - -". (Seriously, this is NOT a joke posting! I figure it's flipping me the bird.)This occurs in all different lighting conditions. It happened today in the afternoon with high overcast and plenty of ideal even light, (not blinding light). The camera lens switch is set to "A", the switch on the body near the lens mount is set to "AF", the mode dial is set

to 'Auto", the battery has plenty of charge.Sometimes if I take the battery out and wait a few seconds before replacing it this will "fix" the problem; othertimes (like today) it will not. I have a 2nd battery. This occurs with the 2nd battery as well.I bought a guidebook about it the D80 and read it cover to cover. I have thoroughly gone thru this book on several additional ocassions and I cannot find any reference to this "F - - -" issue.Does anyone have any guidance for me on this "F - - -" issue? In reply to jagco • Mar 5, 2010 I'm thinking the F--- code is due to the seating of the lens on the camera. Did you try taking the lens off and back on...or maybe clean the contacts on body and lens? -- Mark O markinvictoria's gear list:markinvictoria's gear list Nikon D7100 Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Nikon 200-500mm F5.6E ED VR Reply Reply with quote Complain Patco • Forum Pro • Posts: 12,463 Re: "F - - -" issue with D80.
