then for past 5 months. Problem: "There was an error joining the airport network" The problem comes only when I make my network secure. If I make it open, it works fine.. I dont want to keep my network open and unsecure, so the problem keeps bothering me. Things I have tried. 1. I have tried removing all the old passwords in the keychain and deleting all the previous networks it remembered. no difference, same error.. 2. I have tried several other things suggested in different forums and articles, nothing really gave any results.. 3. I finally got my OS reloaded with erase and Install option.. still the same error message comes.. I have my Interferece robustness on and other PC computer connected to the same network works fine.. I have even tried changing the router from Netgear to Linksys, nothing really worked.. Please give me some input on the issue and possible cause of the problem. If anyone else have the same issue, kindly share the same.. Thanks a lot in Advance.. #1 yannam, Apr 7, 2006 Grap10 uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Sep 21, 2006 Messages: 1 Likes Received: 0 Same problem - any ideas, anyone, anyone?? #2 Grap10, Sep 21, 2006 powermac uix_expand uix_collapse iMac Dual 2.0 17' Joined: Aug 21, 20

"...error joining the AirPort network 'xxxxx'." whgiii Fresh-Faced Recruit Join Date:Oct 2005 Status: Offline Jan 13, 2006, 03:40 PM All of a sudden, I am getting the error message, "There was an error joining the AirPort network 'xxxxx'," on my G4 PowerBook (OS 10.4.4) whenever trying to https://macosx.com/threads/airport-woes-there-was-an-error-joining-the-airport-network.270604/ connect to ANY wireless network, either my Airport Express or places where I have previously had no connection problems. The network is recognized in the Airport menu, but does not show up in Airport Setup Assistant or Airport Admin Utility so I cannot configure or even install firmware upgrades. The problem started while trying the new "multiple speakers" feature on Itunes 6.0.2. It worked for a few minutes, then sound stopped at the Airport Express connected speaker. Since then I cannot access any wireless http://forums.macnn.com/92/networking/281820/error-joining-the-airport-network-xxxxx/ networks. It worked ok the first day but since then I gett the same message. I not sure what to do. I have restarted the network several times to no avail. I'll keep and ear out for some answers. Restarting sometimes fixes it. 2. Sometimes, turning AirPort off and back on is enough. 3. If not, try choosing "Other..." from the AirPort menu and enter the network name and password manually. 4. If not, go into your keychain (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access). For each of the keychains (the top-left box), select it and then choose Keychain Access -> Keychain First Aid and do a repair. 5. If that doesn't fix it, look in both your "login" keychain and the "system" keychain and delete all the keys whose kind is "AirPort Network Password". Then restart and try to connect. tooki View Public Profile Visit tooki's homepage! Find More Posts by tooki ytico

occurred" error on Mac macosxblog July 21, 2015 1 Comment on How to Fix "A connection timeout occurred" error on Mac When i try to connect my MacBook pro to an Airport Express (running in dual mode) in 802.11n 5Ghz, i am getting this error "Failed to join "network" A connection timeout occured". Rebooting both Mac and Airport Express not fix this issue. Fix 1: Remove and forget the network in is entirely. When you see 5ghz SSID display under new networks choose it. Error will occur. Disable SSID for the 2.4ghz (If you are suing the same name). Then enable WiFi password to use none. Once you complete this steps your Mac Pro or Mac Mini was able to connect to the 5Ghz SSID. Left the computer connected and log onto your access point & re-enable the WPA/2 encryprtion. As the Mac computer disconnected, attempt to relog (this time with a password). It will work, Fix 2 (for Netgear WNDR3700 running DD-WRT) Deleting preference file or removing known networks not fix your issue. Change to NA-mixed. Fix 3: On your Mac click the WiFi symbol on the top toolbar. Choose "Open Network Preferences" Select "Assist Me" button at the bottom. Select "Diagnotics" button on the popup. Choose "WiFi" and click Continue. Choose the Network Connect and click Continue. Also try our suggestions "Connection timeout" issue was caused by the DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. Put the adapter further away from your MacBook Air. Use WPA2 instead of WEP on routers. Change the network type from N-only to NA-mixed. Navigate into router setup and find advanced settings. Locate the option for UPNP and disable it. Restart the router. Downgrade your Knext driver Turn hibernation OFF on the Airport and restart the OS. Unplug your wifi router for 40 sec and plug it in again. Navigate to Macintosh HD ->Library ->Keychain, Open file System.Keychain. Right click and delete all the keychain having name with problematic SSID. EClose keychain and try to reconnect that ssid. Navigate into Network Preferences. Delete the Wi-Fi interface from the left column. Click Apply. Re-add the Wi-Fi interface and click Apply. Run your router firmware update. Some times this issue happened because of te hardware issue.
